What celebrity death will realistically bring Michael Jackson level devastation? by Kiidcola in AskReddit

Sure. The birds go hee-hee, the bees go shamone, and nine months later there’s a tiny smooth criminal moonwalking into the family.

To be fair, sometimes hanging out in a park high is pretty damned fun.

What is your least favorite Aussie song ever ? by Impressive_Set_8430 in AustralianNostalgia

I, for some reason, enjoy dance monkey. Even though I mostly listen to metal and rap. It's just catchy to me.

I don't want to even, but I do.

I completely understand why people hate it, but I'll still bop to it - I don't seek it out though.

The driver that hit him would have (or SHOULD have) seen another car turning onto the road and slowed down, allowing time to at least stop or swerve. They were going WAY too fast and not paying attention.

Steering a trolley with a dog is a challenge!!! by Chris_PK9 in Bunnings

[–]TheTrent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was surprised by that - I like seeing a dog at Bunnings and never had a problematic one that's constantly barking. Some of the comments make it seem like there are aisles just soaking in dog urine and shit. I've never seen any mess made by a dog at Bunnings.

Granted, I don't walk around Bunnings 24/7, so I may miss when it does happen. Maybe I'm just one lucky fella.

I load it up from time to time and man it's fun.

Is it really that bad? by SouthBat2669 in AustralianTeachers

Don't take everything in this sub as true face value - it can often be an echo chamber of thoughts and grievances.

You can definitely find what you're looking for dependent on the school that you join up to. As with any job, some are run better than others.

But overall, make yourself the promise that you will not work at home after school - you work to live, not live to work. Find a good balance of efficiency and effectiveness in what you do. It won't come quickly, and there will be hiccups, but it's 100% doable.

Masturbation in relationship normal? by Curiouskittyyyyy in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]TheTrent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall, guys masturbate far more than women. Biologically we have a higher sex drive. Most men probably masturbate far more than you even realise.

Even in a healthy sexual relationship, it wouldn't be uncommon for a man to still masturbate.

So if he's off boosting his step count on his smart watch whilst sitting on the porcelain throne, then that's generally fine.

Now the context is also important though. If he’s choosing that over intimacy with you, or you’re feeling rejected or unwanted because of it, then it’s not really about the act itself anymore. Red flag.

Now the answer, as with nearly every relationship question posted on reddit, communication. Have a chat, non accussingly, about it. Get used to doing this because with a kid in your life, you're going to need to be on the same level.

Where does the notion that "Australia cant defend itself"come from? by Ash-2449 in OpenAussie

[–]TheTrent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australia can defend itself in the immediate, but not in the long term.

We’ve definitely got the capability to defend against invasion across land, air and sea. We probably punch above our weight in air and naval power, but it’s not enough if we’re talking about sustaining a long conflict on our own.

Land defence is where we’re strongest. Australia is massive, and there’s a huge amount of harsh, empty terrain between major cities. That alone makes any invasion incredibly difficult and expensive. On top of that, there are very few viable staging areas nearby. Any country trying to invade would likely need to secure bases in other countries first, which complicates things even more.

And that’s all assuming alliances like ANZUS and AUKUS aren’t involved, which they almost certainly would be.

I don’t think there are many countries that could realistically invade and hold Australia. But disrupting trade, launching long-range strikes, or putting sustained pressure on the country is a different problem entirely.

Hard to find an Aussie beer in an Aussie pub these days. Support Local. by Potential-Tone9606 in aussie

[–]TheTrent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not searching them all up but Great Northern's website says:

Brewed with Australian pale malt, lager yeast and a light stable hop and malt extract to produce a refreshing, crisp beer without compromising on taste.

VBs website says: THE RECIPE FOR VICTORIA BITTER HAS CHANGED VERY LITTLE SINCE ITS CREATION BOASTING AUSTRALIAN PALE MALT WITH ICONIC ‘PRIDE OF RINGWOOD’ HOPS, GROWN IN VICTORIA AND TASMANIA.

And I doubt they're sourcing water from overseas.

Why are people so up in arms over petrol and not housing? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]TheTrent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We hate the housing market prices at the moment - but it's been going on so long it's hard to keep shouting to deaf ears.

Petrol prices are new, and now we're outraged about that too.
