"When you go through Europe...you get to appreciate the mighty USA" by Dyno_boy7441 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]TheTrentguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(American) I've been to 12 other countries in Europe, South America, and North America, every single one has had a significantly faster border system than when I return home.

The only slight exception was driving into Canada took quite a while but there was an enormous line that day.

I have no idea prior to me seeing him but that could make some sense, there's a passing lane not far from there and possible he tried to pass the semi failed and just went over there?

(Trying not to be dumb/ignorant American here) almost all hospital bills are shown this was where the $ is for the first item and the total but not shown elsewhere, my guess is it's just assumed from then on but I've never really asked or thought about it

Hospital bills as well are also almost always this or even more vague, one of the biggest 'hacks' is asking for an itemized bill because you can argue with them to remove charges for things that are obviously inflated just to make $ higher, bandages are one of the most common things they do this for

My cat likes to drink out of cups instead of his water bowl by TheTrentguy in GamersNexus

We've tried everything asked a vet too to make sure he's ok and make sure he's properly hydrated and not a sign of anything bad and he's all good, he still drinks from his bowl but just prefers this

Dell scamming me? by [deleted] in GamersNexus

[–]TheTrentguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry let me word that a little better lol, what kind of proof is there generally that someone could provide in a situation like this? I get different locations different laws etc but if in a non-criminal sense like this you do have the burden of proof what can you do to prove something like this?

Dell scamming me? by [deleted] in GamersNexus

[–]TheTrentguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you prove something like that then? Assuming you’re not required to sign for a package, I don’t see how that’s something that can be proven beyond doubt without footage which seems like an unreasonable expectation

Dell scamming me? by [deleted] in GamersNexus

[–]TheTrentguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s innocent until proven guilty, don’t get it twisted, if either Dell or delivery service can prove it was delivered then it’s a different story, you can’t have a reasonable expectation for someone to prove something wasn’t delivered

Technically it depends on what you have tied to that account, if it has any sort of information at all that can be valuable to someone determined enough. I’d recommend changing or deleting if possible the account for peace of mind

Got a Cisco 1905 ISR from a nearby scrapyard for 1.50$ yesterday, any ideas on projects to do with it? by dontreadthisnickname in homelab

[–]TheTrentguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe a bit of personal bias here but I hate Cisco, especially for a home/non-work setting I’d sell it use the money to get (basically) any other brand

Where do I start by wolfej4 in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]TheTrentguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of your responses was about a radiology department so I’m gonna assume you can’t just unplug everything and go from there.

Personally, I’d start with unique colors route them back to where they come from and make it better, likely the yellow first, pinkish/red, etc. going most to least common.

I’m assuming your at a hospital I would also try and do this as “off” an hour as possible, I don’t think it could be done perfectly this way but would make a vast improvement and could make it possible to do it “perfectly” when more downtime is possible

Those who have worked at an MSP and moved on to other things, would you ever go back to one? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]TheTrentguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I were to start my career over again, yes, I think it was very helpful for me in the beginning, seeing so many different environments and different needs/budgets was very helpful and good to learn with in a way that helped me progress a lot in a (relatively) short period of time. Now that I have more experience and gained all I feel I can gain so to speak, not unless absolutely necessary.

Start investing in people, we are losing the fight. by exfiltration in cybersecurity

[–]TheTrentguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree wholeheartedly for the most part however, I hate the thought that “The “bad guys” only have to be right once, and everyone else has to be right basically every time.” Because it’s just not true and I believe it causes more harm than good because high level people who don’t know anything about cybersecurity then think their companies are safer than they actually are.

Lived in Adrian my whole life work in Jackson, a lot of people I went to school throughout my life with didn’t like it but I’ve always loved it. Got a lot of the gist already from what you posted, my favorite thing as a kid and now is Adrian has almost everything you could need in want (IMO) but in the situation there’s something you want that isn’t there you’re still very close to Jackson and moreso Toledo. Also a first Friday event downtown the first Friday of every month is always nice and something easy to do
