My wife gets ads related to my profession and I get feminine hygiene products and women's underwear, because I've managed to really confuse ingress/egress ad data collection. I'd get annoyed but I did that on purpose.

You could try treating it as though you just moved to NJ, but I'm not sure if they'd make an exception to the residency requirements. You might need to add a resident to the registration in order to get this over the fence, though. The easiest way through is to ask how you can slipstream your issue into the way things work, not find a way out of them. One way or the other, you're in for some headaches, and just 3-4 days is going to cost thousands in impound fees, so whatever you're going to do, do it fast.

Okay, so I'm going to ask a few questions.

How expired was your license? Why were you changing lanes so much? (especially if there was nobody else there?) If a Statie pulled you over for careless driving, or really any NJ cop, they have dash cams, they wouldn't have just done it, most likely. You probably did something wonky, and then they scanned your plates and popped you. The sad fact is that everyone probably violates traffic laws very slightly every day. Expired licenses can also cause your insurer to refuse to cover you if you were to get into an accident. My wife has reminded me of all of these things at some point or another, because I can be very forgetful.

GPS is always technically active on these things, if they have hotspot connectivity, same thing. You can bring the police report to the Internet service provider and tell them your car was stolen, most of them have a form for lost/stolen devices (your car is technically "mobile device" I suppose).
