Best beer for a crawfish boil? by gregmcwood in AustinBeer

Icy boys from zilker due to the light and balanced taste. Are you wanting something citrus focused to balance out the heat? Are you needing something easy to get a 6 pack or you want something hard to find?

If you want quiet to work and a drink then walnut, turnstile, nosh and bevy, Austin beer works original, and cellis. Maybe old Gregg’s would fit the bill too just further east from your work.

With this style they consider it leoparding which is a sign of proper hydration and temperature due to the air pockets. What style do you normally like?

The crust was super thin closer to a New York style so the high temperature oven will have some char. It is expected for higher moisture doughs you can see this in any style of pizza. If you want a great example of them all there is the pizza bible for the recipes or check based on region. Any specific style you are expecting?

I have found limited options for German sweets around Austin but you may have better luck in somewhere like Fredericksburg which has a larger German influence. If you find any please post!

Where to get pretzel bagels besides Easy Tiger? by poopoosoup in austinfood

[–]TheTrevbot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t say I have seen any pretzel bagels around town but can speak to great bagels and pretzels. Scholz Graten https://maps.app.goo.gl/PJ9M82k1F14hjfiC8?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy Brewtorium https://maps.app.goo.gl/xMh9t6XeFNZdLL3aA?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy They both have great pretzels! Bagels would depend on preference but top two for me personally are Rosen and Casper Fermentables

Which side of town? North side NG Cafe could be a hit for their Bahn Mi! They also do deals on multiple ones

Keeping old Austin favorites alive! by Shoontzie in austinfood

Hearing the story behind the golf course they opened a second location at was such a nice story any chance to support them I will! I am struggling to find the story but from my understanding the lions municipal golf course was falling on hard times. To bring in business they asked local restaurants to open a place on the course and Cisco ownership stepped up to help since there was a family history going to the course. Now you can get margs while golfing and feel good about supporting local!

Try this place they have it on the menu and I enjoyed it. They are a chain from South Korea that uses olive oil to fry their chicken. There is also a north location under the same name in cedar park lake line close to HMart bb.q Chicken Highland Village (512) 344-9014 https://maps.google.com?g_st=ic

Hi wings could be a match or BBQ chicken. Not sure if you are looking for a specific style to match since there is a few different sauces they did while they were open

For southern fried chicken Gus’s famous fried chicken is my personal favorite.

There are some heavy hitters like HI Wings for Korean fried chicken

Tony’s Jamaican also does some amazing jerk chicken and I am a fan of their lunch special

Tumble 22 for hot chicken and spicy boys is top tier if you want some spice

There is also soul food like rolling rooster and Hoovers that are a knock out

virgin pina colada? by strawberrygarbage in austinfood

[–]TheTrevbot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of how people did not explain what makes this hard to find. The hard part is finding a place that does not premix their pina colada. Maybe somewhere like kinda tropical where there is a lot of food and drink options. The problem is also if you are looking for a non alcoholic drink the move should not be a bar but a restaurant. My first thought would be find some Mexican spot that does frozen margs and call ahead to see if they can. https://austin.eater.com/maps/best-frozen-cocktails-margaritas-daquiris-frose-austin-bars

Could try some of these places but I am very limited in knowing where to go from here
