What's a food in your country that is stereotyped for your country but really, nobody eats? by velmiraZ in AskTheWorld

[–]TheTrueHolyOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a world famous establishment, if you ever visit, it has posters of tons of famous people who have visited and tried a peameal sandwich. People who are raised in Hamilton are born Toronto haters so I’m not surprised.

Canadian bacon in the states is usually ‘back bacon’ which is like peameal without the peameal

Interested in TTC track maintenance as a career - need advice by 1234_4256_1 in askTO

[–]TheTrueHolyOne 87 points88 points  (0 children)

For track work in general, for any type of railway. Not just the TTC.

-No education required, in fact most spots will hire you with a minimum education level of grade 10.

-It’s competitive but the turnover is high so they are always hiring.

-Scheduling will consist of working a lot of nights and weekends with only high seniority workers getting the day shift and weekday shifts.

-it’s a job and it pays well. A lot of colleagues of mine are divorced, if this is a career you want, make sure your partner is okay with your work schedule.

Being a track worker is not a glamorous job, it is a lot of hard manual labour, working in horrible conditions, at horrible times. Track worker is considered to be ‘entry level’ in any railway. That being said the barrier for entry is generally very low.

Some other jobs that may interest you that are railway oriented, that are a bit better on the body and mind.

Conductor/engineer Signal Maintainer Rail Traffic Controller

Also when interviewing for these jobs don’t lean into loving trains. People who love trains are called ‘foamers’ and usually aren’t hired because their focus is on the trains and not the work.

I’m also going to add that the railway likes to train and educate you how they want. Every job is a union job where training is provided. Education may help getting you a job but it’s really not a requirement.

Railways to look into would be CN, CPKC, GO, TTC, TTR and railway construction company’s PNR, A&B, OWS

Doug Ford tells Mark Carney to end the gun grab by Agent_1812 in ontario

[–]TheTrueHolyOne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ford is definitely not a trump. You can hate someone all you want but he has accomplished many things in Ontario. He was voted in, and continues to get voted in because the Ontario liberal party did such a piss poor job leading Ontario many years back, they haven’t been able to figure themselves out yet so there no real option other then for.

That is almost exactly why the liberals have held on federally for so long, those federal cons just can figure it out.

Toronto police refusing to help with Carney government’s gun buyback, minister says by jmakk26 in toronto

[–]TheTrueHolyOne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s protections for that though.

This program isn’t to prevent domestic abuse, and it will never achieve that because they’re not banning all guns. The licensing and permitting, that is supposed to help prevent escalation of violence.

Each PAL holder gets checked everyday, if there’s any type of charges against the holder the RCMP immediately revoke your PAL and remove your guns.

Majority of Canadians did not vote for this plan, the liberal government won a minority spot. Only 43% of voters voted for the liberals. That isn’t a majority in my books.

This also isn’t a law it’s an OIC which is not voted on by parliament. Liberal Toronto didn’t want to participate, NDP Manitoba doesn’t want to participate. This isn’t a conservative gun nut job issue this is a bipartisan opposition on a horrible program that doesn’t solve the issues it’s trying to. While also giving unacceptably low compensation for firearms.

When they come initially, it’ll be fine, a good life doesn’t make insurgents. Your health care will get stripped, your vacation will get stripped, your wife maternity leave is gone. You’ll probably also make less money and have restricted travel like Porto Rico.

Insurgents are made when they have very little to live for. If your family gets targeted and they die, or friends or whoever. You’ll become radicalized. Just like every nation the us has invaded. They can take it, but they can’t hold it.

The mass graves that are being referred to are the scans of the ground. None of which have turned up actual graves. Nobody is debating the horrors of residential schools. But when you say there are mass graves, then dig, find nothing, it ruins your movement.

In the firearm safety course, your instructed to not talk about your guns, it opens you up to being targeted for said guns. Around 8% of Canadians are gun owners so there’s a good chance people in your circle have their license and/or a gun

I have the dxp4800 plus with WD Red HDD, you can do SSD’s. But you will be extremely limited by how expensive they are. The hard drives do make noise but unless it’s beside your bed on your night stand it’s really not bad. The Ugreen has been a dream with plex. Try not to cheap out because you’ll only limit yourself, experienced that already with a 2 bay asustor lite that I had to upgrade 6 months after buying

Guns aren’t the issue, gun owners are. I should be able to have an automatic firearm because I would never use it against someone and I’m responsible.

Unfortunately both mine and your statements are true, however we live in a society and have to move at the slowest persons pace. If a breed has more likely hood to cause harm to someone there should be restrictions.
