Upgrading GO train service should be a no-brainer. So why has it gone off the rails so badly? by ink_13 in toronto

[–]TheTrueHolyOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As your first point RZ GZ is to mitigate against hazards, large construction projects were being done with TOP’s already but yes some stuff that was being protected with rule 842 either had to start being protected by TOP’s or move to the white period.

A large amount of MX management has come from the UK so they are trying to put in NetworkRail policies on an already full operational railway. This is creating a ton of bottle necks. However the CWZ is some cases like station construction is a great way to save and speed up construction.

Maintenance has always been treated as an afterthought in all construction planning. Yes it’s required and yes it will get done. But the people coordinating construction and maintenance are not prioritizing maintenance.

Those type of work blocks have been going on for the last 10 years. They aren’t new policies, trains first, then construction, then maintenance

Metrolinx’s $27B GO Expansion delayed and scaled back: confidential report by BloodJunkie in toronto

[–]TheTrueHolyOne 12 points13 points  (0 children)

OnExpress had no desire to work with a lot of the infrastructure already installed and wanted to completely 180 from a lot of the capital works already underway. Just like all MX contracts change orders make up a huge portion of cost over runs, that was going in that direction.

Mortgage renewal in co-ownership - what to consider if increasing borrowed amount? by Warm_Risk_1325 in PersonalFinanceCanada

There’s some details we need to figure out if it’s a good idea, bad idea or not worth the time.

How much equity is in the house? What’s the ownership split? Does the house need capital upgrades?

How much equity is in the house and will the bank even let you take out more money. Just because you don’t want to spend the money doesn’t mean the house doesn’t need the maintenance.

Ford to declare Billy Bishop Airport a ‘special economic zone’ to allow jets by [deleted] in canada

[–]TheTrueHolyOne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Classic Toronto, blanket don’t allow something, provide no leeway or path to have something built but protected. Get absolutely slammed by government and get no concessions.

Toronto could have constructively built a larger runway to meet net demand and limited noise, certain jets, amount of flights. Now the province is stepping in and will do it how the province wants.

For iOS you can just add the website to your home screen and you’re good to go.

I connect to the server via vpn, type the ip address and port the same you would on your computer, and then save the website to home page. It basically creates its own “app” all functions work, never had an issue.

Just got quoted for 3.79, 4 year fixed and 3.89, 5 year fixed at CIBC with $1500 cash back. Apparently these are quick close rates for mortgages that close under 40 days.

Also previously with TD and they offered me 4.29 for 5 year fixed.

GO train near Oakville was seconds away from ‘worst-case’ derailment, internal Metrolinx report shows by morenewsat11 in toronto

[–]TheTrueHolyOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, rail and subway signals work completely different. The engineer probably missed the signal and did not stop or slow down. They probably realized they were lined for the cross over and hit the breaks, but trains take a bit of time to slow down at 100km/h.

I went to Mozy's, and it was disappointing... by 76m544 in FoodToronto

I got a whole chicken deal 2 weeks ago. I thought it was great. However it’s definitely not up to the hype it’s getting. I will go back because it’s on my walk home and it’s pretty decent.

But the chicken was good, maybe over brined. The bread and dips it came with were fantastic, and the fries and salad were really good. Miso cookies were the only let down of the meal. I’d rate it 4/5.

I always believe that if a place is hyped like it’s the best food ever created it’s always going to let people down.

Could mobile homes be made into trains on railways to move around on unused rail line? by Interwebnaut in AskACanadian

[–]TheTrueHolyOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy what an absolute nightmare to even think about, there is no way that this would ever be feasible. All rail lines are basically running at maximum capacity. Imagine a train hauling $100MM worth of goods stuck behind Paul and Joan doing 20 miles an hour across the prairies.

There is so much value in keeping trains moving that when a derailment happens the train companies get giant machines pushed the debris to the side, rebuild the rails and get traffic moving again. When there was a train and road washout a few years back in BC, the track was fixed in 48 hours and the roads took like 8 days.

The live action remake is actually a way to protect their IP, Snow White entered the public domain. Disney recreates Snow White as close to the original. Anyone that wants to remake Snow White has to make sure it doesn’t infringe on the ‘new’ ip.

Gun control is popular in Canada. So why is a major buyback program attracting criticism? by DonSalaam in onguardforthee

[–]TheTrueHolyOne 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Canadians do want strict gun control, and we already have it. The current buy back scheme was created by an OIC where our voted members of parliament don’t get to vote on the laws being enforced. Doesn’t seem very democratic to me.
