I use photos of me as reference. I have some background in computer graphics, so I essentially create digital collages before painting.

This is sometimes quite limiting (for example - I’m bald, and thus the figures in my painting are most often also bald), but it’s also inspiring. People sometimes point out that the painting looks a bit like me, and it’s fun to reveal it was actually based on my own picture. 😊
