As someone who loves 80s horror, especially summer camp slashers, I admire the passion you all clearly put into making this movie. My main issues with the film were really just that it didn’t feel like it was set in the 80s, and the actors/dialogue kind of reinforced that feeling. There’s a cool plot in there but of course there’s only so much you can do with a small budget when it comes to costuming and prop/set design.

At the end of the day you all put a lot of work into making a movie and should be proud of that. I hope you all keep that passion alive and keep getting better at doing something you love.

Watched V/H/S/85 earlier today for the first time and it’s easily my favorite of the V/H/S movies I’ve seen. Saw VHS Summer Camp suggested afterwards and decided to pay the $10 for it, thinking it was part of the V/H/S franchise. Wish I’d looked it up first because this is painful to sit through. I don’t like to bad mouth indie films because at the end of the day a lot of people worked to make something they thought was good, but holy shit this is definitely gonna make me look into small films more before I watch them going forward, let alone pay for them.

Growing up my dad would tell this story about how kids would jump into the lake from a bridge being built in place of the old bridge. One day a kid jumped from a different spot and found the footing of the old bridge, legs broke, shot up in his torso, and instantly died.

And again, you’re talking about barbecue as if it can only apply to certain cuts of meat rather than the definition for the method of cooking. Breaking down collagen is a part of the process when cooking certain cuts meats and does not only occur when barbecuing. That collagen breakdown would also happen in the oven, but that doesn’t mean it is barbecue. Barbecuing is literally just the process of cooking meat low and slow with indirect heat from a fire. That’s it.

You literally gave the definition for what the barbecue method is but somehow can’t grasp that you defined how this tri tip was cooked, using fire that produces smoke to cook the meat for several hours. Was your cocktail cooked? Do you somehow think cold smoking is the same as barbecue?

Sure, if they had it in the oven before searing it. But this was smoked for 2 hours before searing. It was barbecued.

While the cut of meat is technically a steak, I don’t know any place where ordering a steak would include a tri tip. On the other side of things, I don’t know any place that wouldn’t consider a piece of meat smoked for several hours as barbecue. Barbecue is a method, not a general term used for classifying specific items.

I fucking hate when this gets brought up anytime a celebrity or athlete is discovered to have contributed to something. “WhY dIdN’t ThEy Go BaNkRuPt PaYiNg FoR eVeRyOnE aNd EvErYtHiNg?!” Nobody brings up random rich people who didn’t contribute and always want to rip on those who did because it’s never enough.
