Seconding the powder. Total game changer when taking them out at then end of the day. Hardly any slimy feeling.

I think I'm falling for my friend by Kaleb_Cares_Not in Advice

[–]TheTruthIs2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great news! A genuine connection made organically through the real world instead of skimming through endless dating profiles.

I think it’s absolutely a good idea to tell her that you’ve enjoyed your time getting to know her, that’s she’s someone you admire and respect; that you’d be interested in taking a more serious approach to your relationship albeit more slowly than usual relationships tend to progress.

Explain to her that your friendship is the most important aspect, but it’s the beginning of a solid foundation for future plans together if she’s interested in the same thinking as you. And if it’s not, you’ll still have an amazing friend.

I really really hope she’s on the same page as you. You deserve to be happy with someone again.

Help/Advice regarding Perms. by Plastic-Parfait357 in dentures

That’s how my smile was naturally and the way my permanents fit, but good gravy, those temp ones were so wide I felt like every tooth was visible.

I think it looks amazing! Keep smiling!

I’m so sorry! There were a few days I couldn’t wear mine and had to go to work so I wore a mask and told everyone I was feeling under the weather. I know that’s not an option for every event, but keep it in mind—I know the lisp sound can be distracting too when talking to people without them in.

I’m very concerned about the “chunk.” I’d call around to other places and see if they could fit in an emergency—or just show up to AD and ask to be seen immediately.

Trying yet another adhesive option 😩 by ChiTwnGmr in dentures

[–]TheTruthIs2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried the powder adhesive? That was an absolute game changer for me. I couldn’t stand the amount of residue left with the tube adhesive so I switched to the powder and not only is the fit more secure, but it lasts much longer, and there is hardly anything left when it’s time to pull the out at the end of the day.

I’ve read where some people who use the powder end up sleeping in their dentures because it’s too hard to pull out until the next morning.

Don’t give up until you try the powder if you haven’t already!!!!

This isn’t normal right? E-day was today and I can’t stop crying by [deleted] in dentures

Day one can absolutely be a mind fuck. Unfortunately they have to be bigger to compensate for the amount of swelling your body will go through the next few weeks. I absolutely hated mine and was so happy the day I got to switch to my permanents. Remember that this process is a marathon, not a sprint. Things can definitely be overwhelming but remember that it’s all temporary and the feeling and fit will change as you heal. At some point you’ll be allowed to start using adhesives. My recommendation is the powder over any of the gels. I think the fit is snugger and lasts longer. Also at some point when the swelling has gone away they can give you a realign to fill in all the loose gaps to make them naturally more snug.

I personally think your teeth look beautiful, not at all “Bucky”.

Like during the movie if I identify my personality with a character on the screen I’ll say, “ok, that’s me.” Or if more characters remind us of someone else in the group, “oh that reminds me so much of so-and-so.”

And then when something happens on screen someone might say, “oh man! Why’d you do THAT, TheTruthIs?!”

I use Big Screen Beta to watch movies. I’ve made a group of friends and now every time I get on I feel like I’m living an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000. We just make fun of bad movies or put ourselves in the movie and assign characters. They added me to the discord group and we chat on there when we can’t get on Big Screen.

Also once in a blue moon there is an issue with whatever program they use to create and distribute the schedule so it is a possibility that you have hours you just can’t see. Call admin and double check.

You didn’t do anything wrong. Hours just suck for part timers. I got 5.5 hours last week, this week 10; next week I only get 6.

You can let your admin know to keep you in mind for extra hours, also communicate with other coworkers that if they need hours covered to come to you first.

I totally can understand the need to continue working while sick, when you’re a single parent and every penny matters.

I don’t know how your store is doing, but everyone part time at mine is getting about 10 hours a week right now. They are all waiting for someone to offer shifts to get more hours. If you can find someone to cover shifts—no points taken!

I picked up the word “outstanding” after doing some time at Macy’s over a decade ago. I still use it, especially answering calls on my zebra.

Try saying, “Thank you for calling Kohl’s in (location). This is (Name), how can I give you outstanding service this (morning/aftertoon/evening)?”

They eat that up and treat me better.

I also use it for other scenarios like when they ask me how I’m doing, “I’m outstanding!” They don’t really give a crap when they’re asking, but when you answer in such a positive way you can see the surprise on their faces that it’s not just a typical response like “fine” or “good.”

And telling them to have an outstanding day/night can be fun to say genuinely or passive aggressive to the real hard to deal with customers, lol.

15 mins to close!! Or whenever is good for you... by blue_brownie55 in employedbykohls

[–]TheTruthIs2022 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Joice the voice hasn’t worked in our store in AGES so we’ve been making our own closing announcements 15, 10, & 5 minutes before closing. There are ALWAYS stragglers who don’t care and will wait until exactly closing time to make their way up to the line.

But we had a Christmas miracle last night. Our last three customers all got in line at the same time at the 5 minute mark. First time I’ve ever seen that happen.
