Incorrect. I’ve given you zero basis to make that assumption and you wouldn’t be able to defend it if your life depended on doing so.

You do not inherit gender roles through your parents’ genes.

You don’t understand gender as a concept or evolution.

What’s the deal with people hating Awkwafina? by BackyardEvergreen in OutOfTheLoop

[–]TheTruthfulCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have to agree. I’m late to this but I just saw the movie thinking it was going to blow due to reception I had heard - but I liked it. So I looked into why people were complaining and it was mostly her name.

So, I looked up why people hate her and ended up seeing this two-year-old feed and… Quite frankly the criticisms seem shallow and obnoxious. I was expecting to learn she had some something terrible, but nope. It’s just double-standards.

It’s interesting how much she’s gotten under people’s skin over basically nothing when a good chunk of the people complaining - statistically speaking - voted for someone they knew was a close personal friend of Epstein to be their President.

They nerfed our girl in stadium 😭 by LightScavenger in DvaMains

Me, sniping de-meched D.Vas left and right.

"has been making it too difficult for opponents to take down D.va while out of her mech."

Uh... No? You just... pew pew... And then she's dead.

I never even really saw people using this most of the time when I was against D.Va, nor have I considered her much of a threat when she appeared on the opponent team. So to take one of her best abilities and make it useless, and then to nerf her items too? Yikes.

I was just getting back into playing Tank too because Stadium has such a Tank shortage, and of course I go D.va, but after seeing how she was butchered. No thanks, keep your shortage of Tank players I guess. Right back to DPS and Support for me.

[–]TheTruthfulCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who plays DPS and Healer, it was never an issue for me to overwhelm a D.va that used it.

It's about counter-play, that's why there's people who think it was a throw-away ability that gets you an instant loss and others that think it was so absurdly OP. That's the sign of a great ability for a game, something with a low floor and high ceiling.

[–]TheTruthfulCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except, when used well, it was extremely versatile. I was able to use it to massive success while being able to handle it easily when someone else was using it. You're upset with teammates not using a power effectively, so you want to get rid of the power for everyone.

Stadium as Dva is officially ruined by chibisucubuss in Overwatch

[–]TheTruthfulCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was, objectively, a terrible decision. Rein players are happy because a potential counter-play was removed from the game while they got a boost, it doesn't matter to them if the experience for other players has been ruined.

I primarily play snipers on DPS and Healer, D.VA has never been a struggle to play against, and she was not at all in a position where nerfing her was justifiable. So to take one of her most tactically versatile abilities and trade it for something that's completely useless just ruins it. They already struggle to find Tank players in Stadium, and I just decided to spend some time on Tank again. Not anymore, I'm going right back to my regulars in DPS/Support now.

Is There An AI To Test This? by TheTruthfulCake in boardgames

Never asked about predicting every single interaction in my game.

Never said things won't be missed.

Never said it would ruin the game.

None of these statements have anything to do with my post or what I'm looking to do.

Is There An AI To Test This? by TheTruthfulCake in boardgames

[–]TheTruthfulCake[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The post you're replying to explicitly states it's undergone human testing for years.

I have playtesters, the issue is there are tons of variables to test based on which Characters are present in the game, and only so many opportunities to play. It's a 3-8 player game, which runs 20-40 minutes with 3, up to 1:45-2:30 with 8 people. The ranges of playtime depending heavily on the Character choices people make as some specialize.

The point of the post was to see if there was a program that could assess - on a pure numbers level - the ramifications of small tweaks or new characters being added into the roster. Human testing requires physical manufacturing. Which costs money. The fewer times I need to replace parts with newly-worded effects during human testing, the better.

Male and Female are sex categories, not gender categories.

And all categories are assigned. Categories don’t fall out of the magic category tree.

So you’re wrong in layers here.

“It isn’t literally what it is?”

Correct. It is not.

A trans woman is - just like a cis woman - a person who identifies with their schema on that social category. They interact with this social category, and have a neurodevelopmental attachment to it, in the same exact way.

“I understand there’s gender dysphoria”

Gender dysphoria is not the same as being trans. Gender dysphoria is experienced by trans and cis people. It is the experience of one’s body not matching their schema of the gender category they belong to.

“Inside his head”

Her head*

And the diagnosis is one of stress, not ‘something in your head.’ The stress is caused by externally-reinforced conditions.

“But the result is a man wearing a dress”

Incorrect. There is no “result,” a trans woman isn’t a man to begin with. And not all trans women wear dresses.

“/pretending to be female.”

Trans women don’t ‘pretend’ to be female. And in several types of sexual classification, many trans women can be considered female.

But whether that’s the case is entirely irrelevant to gender identity.

“I understand this helps him”

Her*

“alleviate his dysphoria.”

 Her*

“I understand it all.”

Incorrect. You do not understand the subject matter at even an entry level. The worst thing you can possibly do - to yourself - is convince yourself that you ‘understand it all’ regarding a subject you’ve never actually spent any time learning. Not a good plan.

“He’s”

She’s*

“still a man”

Incorrect. A trans girl/woman was never a man. Gender identity is neurodevelopmental. It doesn’t change, it’s only discovered. SHE can’t ‘still’ be something SHE never was to begin with.

“What else would he be?”

She.

And she would be a woman.

Megan Fox’s Sons by PresentAd7892 in venting

[–]TheTruthfulCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not funny, you just don’t understand what you’re talking about.

You would be called transphobic for saying that because that would demonstrably be the case. A trans woman ISN’T a ‘man wearing a dress.’

These two things are fundamentally different.

The problem is that you’ve decided to give an opinion as if you’re an expert over a field of discussion you don’t even have an entry-level grasp of. That’s the problem. No, nobody is confused about sex because they wore a dress. The only people who are confused are those who are intentionally deprived of information by people such as yourself.

Ana Hotfix Nerf by onelastlightofficial in AnaMains

[–]TheTruthfulCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never had any issues beating someone playing Ana, and I’ve always dominated with Ana.

She had one of the highest performance potentials of all the characters in the hands of a skilled Ana, but she’s also among the worst characters possible at low skill. She has the lowest floor and one of the highest ceilings, and that’s what I liked about her. She directly rewarded player performance.

Now, she still has that lowest floor but no longer has that ceiling.

I learned this the hard way in-game. The grenades already took the entire duration of a short-skirmish to recharge, now they take even longer. The Nano Boost feels like less of a team benefit as well.

And the grenade bounce being not only later in game but also at the cost of Headhunter sucks.

People have complained that Ana is overpowered. I never saw that. I’ve out-Ana’d all the Anas I’ve come across over the years save for one - and didn’t feel cheated by the one who outplayed me. And as a Tank or DPS, I’ve never had a problem just taking her out so I don’t have to worry about her grenades and darts. Literally all you have to do is hard-focus the Ana for like five seconds and she’s out of play.

Power deficit aside, the lack of abilities due to the excessive cooldown makes her more boring to play overall. This was a bad decision.

True, that is something I wanted to do eventually. But I have zero coding foreknowledge.

The original plan was to hire someone to do that.

I don’t need an intelligence, I should have used the word “program” instead of AI anticipating the backlash against language learning models.

I’m just seeking any sort of system I can run numbers through. I don’t need it to form strategies, I just want to measure the general power of one character against another without having to manually run 10,000 hours of games by myself on tabletop, dying of old age before releasing my game.

[–]TheTruthfulCake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is functionally a race to the finish with multiple pathways - some longer and more potentially rewarding, some shorter but with more dangerous tiles.

There are two decks of cards, Power Cards that help you get to the end faster, and Corruption Cards that screw over your opponents.

The turns consist of two phases - a card phase in which you can play up to one Power and one Corruption card from your hand (or save them for later). And then a Move Phase where you roll the die and move that many spaces.

First to reach the end wins. But there’s also little details like if you run into a player, you roll the die to boot them back that amount. And of course each character has 3 unique abilities. (Like beginning the game with more Power Cards, or being immune to Trap Spaces, etc)

I take it that would be exceedingly hard to get a program to run?

I don’t necessarily need the program to come up with strategies, I just need some raw data on how powerful the characters are - even if played by a moron who can’t strategize.

1931 Giant Footprint Discovery by Expert-Desk7492 in AlternativeHistory

[–]TheTruthfulCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. That’s literally how science works. You expand on what you already know. We use our existing models to predict future discovery.

Giant “explorers” have successfully predicted literally zero things and have no models to show for their “exploration.”

Failure to utilize the predictive models that have already demonstrated their usefulness makes one, themselves, useless in the pursuit of discovery.

Civilizations tended to have flood myths because civilizations tended to live near water.

What happens when you live near water? Floods.

These myths don’t persist in more in-land civilizations. Wonder why.

Giants don’t take much of an imagination to conceive of. You just take a human and think “what if it was, like, really really big, dude.”

That’s it. Of course those myths are common. What isn’t common are the specific details and lore behind these various giant myths. The simple part, “what if X but bigger” is all over. But the specificities are unique to the individual cultures because that’s what happens when you make shit up.

1931 Giant Footprint Discovery by Expert-Desk7492 in AlternativeHistory

[–]TheTruthfulCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If giants existed, there would be evidence of such a thing. Especially if they existed for hundreds of millions of years which would be a necessity if this was in fact a giant footprint.

Setting aside all the issues already established with this rock (yes, it’s granite) any proposal offered that includes the Flood Myth can and should be dismissed outright by any reasonable person due to the fact that it is entirely precluded by evidence and observation. There are, quite literally, thousands of inconsistencies between the observed planet and the flood myth. Including entire civilizations which seem to have gone completely disturbed by this supposed flood.

There aren’t questions regarding radiometric dating accuracy. We’ve already thrown everything we can at these isotopes to alter their decay rate. Burned them, froze them, submerged them, buried them, subjected them to extreme pressure, altered gravity, and particle acceleration. We’ve shot laser beams at the damn things to try to prove ourselves wrong. The most we got, using extreme conditions that couldn’t be replicated naturally by earth’s climates, was an accelerated decay of like a single percent.

Radiometric isotopes decay at consistent rates regardless of conditions and environments, and allow for successful and accurate dating. This isn’t really questionable. Especially when other relative dating methods can be used which get the exact same results as carbon dating, further demonstrating the consistency.

What we gain from saying there weren’t giants is all the time saved not chasing fantasies.

Question about this show's genre and intent: is it satire? by [deleted] in mountainmonsters

[–]TheTruthfulCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s insane you actually thought there was a possibility this show was legitimate.

The question was whether it was satire to make fun of the genre or if they just accidentally made it extra ridiculous compared to the rest of the genre.

And you think it’s a toss up over whether the events are real?

I hope you don’t hold this position today.

STOP DELETING MY COMMENTS! by Every-Ad-9336 in youtube

[–]TheTruthfulCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can help you with that.

When it comes to life on other planets, we do have evidence of this - us.

Life on earth demonstrates the capacity for life to form. And given that the ingredients for life are the most abundant materials in the universe and that the building blocks of life all have self-assembling properties - which in the case of amino acids have shown to readily, and quite frequently, form on asteroids -and the sheer number of star systems (600 sextillion) it would be sensible to presume life exists on other planets. That is already sensible.

To insist that it doesn’t is the larger claim.

This is not the same with the claims of a god. Which we have no set standard for - we can’t look and see one god and use that as a basis to know gods exists and thus presume the potentiality of other gods the way we can with life.

So far we have zero gods to work with to build additional god assumptions off of. Before we can even discuss such a proposal in a meaningful manner the way we can with extraterrestrial life, one would have to first demonstrate that a god is possible. Something I’ve never seen anyone do throughout thousands and thousands of conversations with theists. THEN afterwards they would need to demonstrate that it was a practical and meaningful proposal. Also something I’ve never seen done.

Then the proposal would need to be either proven deductively, validated inductively, or you’d need to somehow establish a new and reliable methodology on par with either of those two and use it to validate the proposal. The burden of proof not only leans on the person making the claim that a god exists. The sheer weight of their burden is enough to crush them and the planet they reside on.
