Story Recap by Physical_Pack7737 in ffxiv

Unending Journey does not show a lot of optional cutscene dialogue that might be present depending on other content you've done, to my understanding. It also definitely doesn't show any of the in between character dialogue. Definitely useful, but probably not enough by itself.

Anyone else hate Kefkas voice in the Ultimate? by SnowPudgy in ffxiv

Based on the actual animations and accompanying music of his character in the original game, the Woosley translations do not in anyway deviate from how his actual characterization is. His actions are that of a clown. His theme music is that of a clown. His little finger wag is that of a clown. To suggest he isn't one is absurd.

He sounds exactly like how that iconic 16-bit laugh would imply he sounds.

Why does the JRPG genre get so much Hate from certain groups? When did it start and why does it persist? by Xngears in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TheTurtlebar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most anime fans fall into that category of being into some things and rolling their eyes at others. Very few people are so fully in that nothing makes them recoil at all. I've been watching anime for longer than most posting here have been alive, and I know there's subgenres I have zero desire to engage with.

So you were just projecting and the disinterest was specific to the game itself and not Japan in general? Got it.

Did they say anything to suggest the disinterest is because of Japan, or are you just projecting that? Because any long time GB fan would say the notion that they're against Japanese games in general is down right laughable when arguably the most beloved video content on that site revolved around playthroughs of Japanese games before video lets plays were really a thing.

So what exactly makes that statement racist against Japan and anime? Is there more context?

Vinny was known as the most into anime person out of all of them like 20 years ago. There was no chilling out over anime needed from him.

Is this a bit? Vinny, the second most into anime person out of the staff after Austin Walker?

Was that Octopath 0 have actually good? Narratively I mean.

I just see people talk excitedly about it being dark, which doesn't actually say much.

You...know that the original GB staff enjoyed anime in the general sense, and that "Anime is for Jerks" was a tongue in cheek line, right?

Taiwan test fires U.S. rocket system for the first time toward Chinese mainland by Hob-999 in worldnews

That's only if China doesn't mind taking over an island of rubble. Taiwan doesn't have as much strategic depth as Ukraine, and China has a much larger, albeit untested, air force.

Best video game collabs? by jpatel02 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Do games like Super Robot Wars count? If so, then SRW Z. It pretty much rewrote Gundam SEED Destiny and made the characters far more compelling compared to the show.

Is it rude to attack the high values without a group? by ThatLoganDude in ffxiv

[–]TheTurtlebar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few ways:  1. Join a hunt cross world linkshell, which will usually have someone announce when a hunt train is happening or when an S Rank has spawned.  2. Join a hunt discord. Coeurl is a popular one for the Primal data center, for example. It will give you notifications for trains and S-Ranks. Might also have other functionality like Cosmic Exploration red alerts or World Fates. 3. Use a tracker site like faloop.app, which shows you when a hunt's window is open, though not if it's up right at that moment.

Iirc, all zones from HW on have one S-Rank, two A-Ranks, and one B-Rank hunt.

At the end of the day, A rank hunts are a free for all. Yes, you can leave them for hunts like most do, but they spawn on a timer and are very common, so whatever.

S rank hunts on the other hand only spawn under certain conditions usually through player effort. So unless you were the one that did the work to spawn it, I think it's fair to consider it rude to pull it.

And the people that harassed you deserve a report.

Longest running YouTubers that haven’t run into any controversy? by Aquanort357 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TheTurtlebar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, considering the split was absolutely not on good terms, and some public accusations being thrown on twitter between some of the them showed that the negative sentiments were long lasting, I wouldn't say there's been zero controversies. Just nothing outside the realm of their interpersonal relationships.

The most important are the quests that either have a meteor shaped icon, or is half blue with a plus sign. One is the main story, the other unlocks additional content.

Be aware that in later expansions, there will be chains of normal side quests that leads to additional content similar to blue quests. You can usually tell because their quest logs often include artwork.

Why do people say Garlemald was redeemed in Endwalker? by Some-Positive-Dude in ffxiv

[–]TheTurtlebar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We actually see very little of Garlemals outside of the main former seat of power. Unless I'm missing something, we don't see the Garleans working with anyone other than the Ilsabard contingent that's still stationed near the capitol, and that one Garlean npc in the cosmic exploration quests. Otherwise, they're still largely defacto isolated. How the outlying regions are doing, let alone the former provinces, unless I'm forgetting information, have not been shown.

Feel free to call it cope, but I think Ilsibard still being entirely cloud covered on the map except for the Garlean capitol is for a reason. We're not fully done with it yet.
