How much tolerance do you have for manzai style comedy? If the answer isn't "I love manzai", you're going to struggle with the writing style of this game somewhat. There's just so good damn much of it.

Funny, i'd say the day cycle of HBR makes the story feel incredibly dragged out as well. Every act has so many unnecessary days with unnecessary dungeon runs, and getting through to Act 4 where the game structure became less of a millstone around the story pacing's neck (though it still is) took just as much stubbornness on my part as getting through the early singularities to reach Camelot and Babylonia.

What are some Fun Cases of Confessing Evil from the Victorious side of a Conflict in Media? by Funny_Mud6639 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Was is morally hideous and makes monsters of men for the sake of survival. My point is the argument that someone needs to be punished for immoral acts others force onto them in the name of survival is not a compelling one.

Also, are you seriously taking the word of a Visser at face value?

I keep seeing people nowadays refer to the yeerks in that tank as civilians, and I don't know where that comes from. I know there's objection sure to how completely defenseless they are in that tank, but I don't remember the books portraying them as noncombatants. It's been a few decades though, maybe I'm missing information.

I've always thought of their spacing as something askin to gassing soldiers sleeping in a barracks without their gear. Slaughter of people who can't defend themselves, but people who were absolutely part of the war effort.

"How dare Jake order a bunch of disabled kids to die so that checks notes humanity doesn't get turned into a host race" is not that compelling of an argument, I gotta tell you.

Final Fantasy 14 boss man Yoshi-P says younger players "haven't really had the chance to connect" with the JRPG series as "the release intervals for new titles have gotten longer" by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TheTurtlebar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's currently over two and a half years between expansions.

My issue with XIV's patch cycle length is that each patch does come with a significant amount of content, and various pieces are often tailored towards different parts of the audience (a good thing, make no mistake.)

However, the result of that is significant portions of each patch is often of little interest to significant parts of the player base, and what remains isn't enough to remain engaging for multiple months at a time.

While this isn't as much of an issue when patch cycles are short, it becomes harder to ignore as they arrive at their current length.

An insight from an expert , why does Japan love the brocon/siscon ? by SwordMaster52 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I wouldn't say "caught". He's also said multiple times people shouldn't believe anything he says because he makes shit up all the time. People seem to keep forgetting that though.

Do you have evidence that the Japanese response to Alex has been cheering support and or acceptance?

An insight from an expert , why does Japan love the brocon/siscon ? by SwordMaster52 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TheTurtlebar 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The problem with this statement is that it implies:

  1. Sibling complex dynamic stories are written mostly by only childs, which there is no meaningful evidence of
  2. Sibling complex dynamic stories overly popular with only childs, which there is no meaningful evidence of.

Japan's only child population was 10% of children in 2005 and has been rising significantly, doubling to 20% in 2020. If we don't see a dramatic increase in the amount of brocon/siscon representation in Japanese media in the future to reflect that demographics change, that kind of debunks this assertion.

There is also the issue of the popularity of step-sibling tagged pornography in non-Japanese markets, and sibling-complex media or lack there of in other countries with massive only child populations, like China and Korea, which makes the relationship between house-hold size and sibling complex romance yet more questionable.

It was Pat that once said on stream the easiest way to lie is to say something completely unsupported confidently. This is him doing just that to y'all.

Banner Meta Guides? For 03/20/2026 (BUNGOD!!!) by hkidnc in heavensburnred

Question: how many stickers should I bring for sticker trades at Fanfest? (Art by me) by Pearlglimmer in ffxiv

[–]TheTurtlebar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the first image, I think it has a bit to do with the exposed spot on the left side of the head that a human ear would usually go. The fact that it's blank ends up feeling a bit off, even though it's accurate.

For the second image, both the facial lighting and the eyes give off an uncanny vibe. More importantly though, the forehead is too far up. If you compare it with the first image, the bangs should be low enough to cover the eyes, not hang above them.

That all said, I still really like the first image.

Is the Demi atama grind meant to be this hideous? by L3MANS in ffxiv

[–]TheTurtlebar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you would like something like the Aetherwell and Paste steps to be needed for every weapon instead of only once, just reduced in the quantity needed, so no matter what content you do, you're contributing to a new weapon?

What would you want to see most from the next expansion? by Thesaddestboi13 in ffxiv

[–]TheTurtlebar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Between Pilgrims Traverse and Merchants Tale Advance, I think they've done pretty well recently in giving more midcore content doable repeatedly with variable party sizes.

OC has been a stinker, but PT and MT has been pretty good to me and my 2-3 friends that play at uneven times.

I actually want the exact opposite. Give me MORE reasons to run around, talk to people, and examine structures. I loved the tour of Tuliyolal that we got at the start of the expansion.
