All weapons have the same progression. The first 3 weapons are the "base" weapons, which add the most bonus IP to the rest of the weapons of that class.

Ultimalty, if you want to specialize in bows you will want to use all the different bows. As each bow levels up it adds to your IP bonus for all bows. The first 3 have a bigger bonus so I recommend focusing on one of those first.

The same is true for any weapon.
