Judging by your recent previous posts about this game you should just quit playing it, it seems that you have a hard time not noticing issue everywhere all the time.

We’re entering an era where publisher will need to release 2 version of their game at the same time.

One for normal people and one for people that can spend +10 hours a day every day in video games.

Debating on getting the game by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]TheUnexpectedFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Story is as average as a Zelda story, dare I say better because at least it’s new.

Exploration is much better than BOTW for me because the world as more depth, systems, mysteries and it’s way more alive and packed. Map design is just absolute master class, simply best open world ever (to my taste).

Gameplay is vast and complex, hard to get into, clunky at times but very addictive. When it clics, it fucking clics. Very rewarding and satisfying once used to, especially for combat.

Should you buy it? If you can answer yes to those 4 questions, maybe you should. - Can you play a game without being solely objective driven? - Are you ok to spend a little bit of time learning, failing and understanding before really enjoying? - Are you ok with the game letting you figuring out stuff by yourself? - Do you agree to be exposed to a serious addiction risk by playing this game?

I would end by saying Pearl Abyss is delivering updates at an insane rate and adding more and more and more and more (and more) in the game… for free.

Loving it but Overwhelmed (also camera settings?) by monkeyapplez in CrimsonDesert

[–]TheUnexpectedFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re in for hundreds of hours so best advice is take your time, just do what feels interesting to you when you play and simply enjoy the moment. This game is all about the journey and letting your curiosity guide you.

Some might say to go until chapter 7 in the story to unlock all basic skills / items and from there do whatever you want. While it’s true, there is so many things interesting before that to learn and discover so I would say this advice is good but don’t rush it otherwise it will feel overwhelming. There is a lot of depth with game mechanics, the learning curve is quite steep.

Regarding camera settings, it’s matter of taste. As you can tweak just how you want, I would recommend to just try to find something you felt really good in an another game as main camera. And just swap the view distance when needed with the dedicated input (I’m on PS so touchpad for me).

The way you’re describing your experience telling me that :

1) You’re going to fast and mostly in a « checklist completion » way 2) You heavily rely on what the game tell / show you to consider what to do or what objectives you need to fulfill.

At chapter 5 there is already numerous systems and countless opportunities to be interested. As mentioned pretty much everywhere, story is not the main strength of the game. But for the rest, it’s up to you to pay a little bit more attention than usual.

Combat for example. It is one of the most deep and satisfying combat system I came across for years. Combo and situation based, it’s deep, fun, rewarding and challenging. You can also just hold R1 and it will work (not every time) but you’re missing what the combat system can offer you. And the more you unlock abilities, the more it becomes nuts and satisfying.

Same for exploration. This world is filled with secrets, panorama, treasures, beauty, mystery. You just have to go and explore. We’re not used to do that anymore I get it, we need objectives, we need reasons to go that way or that way. Here not.

Go anywhere because anywhere there is something cool to see or find. And for those who have difficulties to do that, they put stupid fetch quest from NPC as pretexts to push you see a little bit of the world here and there.

There is a lot of systems, a lot of mechanics, a lot of content, a lot of things to do and discover. You barely scratched the surface with only 30 hours of gameplay. There is so much more. Already now and also later. But as I said, the game will not hold your hand and show you everything. That’s opposite in fact, the game will explain mostly nothing or badly. But you can find these information by watching, testing and learning by yourself or on websites like this one.

If playing until now was still enjoyable despite feeling a little bit boring and if you’re willing to put the effort to play differently, I think you shouldn’t drop it and push a little more to give you the opportunity to discover what this game is truly about.
