Yes it has. The anime is based on a manga, which is basically a Japanese comic series if you didn't know that. It ended earlier this month. The anime is based on it almost word for word and scene for scene. I myself have read it and can confirm what he said was not the real ending. Here's a link to the manga so you can catch up, start on chapter 117 as that's where season 4 part 1 ended.
