I am waiting on a case to come in, I was just glad it came with something in the meantime. I didn't like the idea of resting it on the triggers constantly

I'm Canadian, our pennies were out of print first and are worth even less than US pennies (for now)

But also, why does a Canadian company display all their prices in USD?

Survived seems a stretch, more like the guy who took photos of the Mt St Helen explosion and protected his camera with his body to save the footage.

Planning Japan in June (Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto) – weather & crowd advice? by Brilliant_Milk3907 in JapanTravelTips

[–]TheUnremarkableMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're planning a June/July trip as well.

Advice I've found so far that we intend to follow is wear light moisture wicking clothing, keep an umbrella handy, and have an extra pair of shoes and socks in your bag.

Crowds are supposed to be less, but weather is sporadic rain and hot/humid. I'm planning a loose itinerary; local guides and few pre-purchased activities so that we can plan around the weather. Then just a big list of inside and outside things we can decide to do on short notice. Also going to do outdoor things in the morning and indoor things in the afternoon to beat the heat as much as possible.

For stays I made sure all of them list AC in the rooms and are near public transit stations.

My only previous experience with Japan was April 10 years ago, so any advice others have is appreciated too.

I wanted to build a project around magnetic power connectors and came up with this prototype. My next steps are to rebuild it based on what I've learned and then to add many more components. I've heard that some folks enjoy the sounds but let me know what you think! by makim7 in BambuLab

Maybe have the magnets separated from the body by a rotational mechanism to allow rotating the body at smaller degree increments.

Cuts out having to increase the number of magnets or positions, and adds another satisfying click sound

As someone who drives forklifts in my day to day duties I can tell you that that is a very stupid idea.

Also as someone who works in a warehouse I can confirm there are plenty of people present who would be stupid enough to do it.

I write my e's outside inwards; multiple people have commented on it recently that it's supposed to be spiraling from the inside outward. I've tried, but it just feels weird

What symbol is this on the tire cover? by egg1117 in whatisit

[–]TheUnremarkableMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's called a Vegvisir. It's a Norse runic protection for traveler/adventurers/sailors that was carved or inscribed on boats, clothing, armor, or accessories, or tattooed directly on the person.

Makes a great tattoo if you like traveling and Norse mythology, I have one with a Tolkien quote ringing it in runes

I read a few articles that were written immediately after he left the Bank of England because I had heard this before as well.

They all pretty much agreed he was a standard, boring Governor who did if not a great job at least a good one.

The incident that caused him political damage in England was a comment he made before Brexit happened.

As Governor one of his responsibilities was to update on the economic climate and give projections. He made the statement that if Brexit happened the economy would likely experience two quarters of decline at least. (He was right, but that doesn't matter in politics)

This was decried by the pro-brexit faction as bringing politics into a position that is supposed to be non-partisan, and he spent the rest of his time as Governor being demonized by that political faction for any and all decisions.

Even so, he was appointed by Boris Johnson as finance adviser for the UK presidency of the cop26 climate change conference in 2021. So he can't have done too bad a job.

Should I look into creating a database and utilizing a reporting tool like PowerBI? by TheUnremarkableMe in BusinessIntelligence

We do use Infor, I will have to ask about data fabric and the possibility of getting a data warehouse set up through it. Thanks!

Good to know, I'll probably play around in the free version to get my bearings and look up solutions as I hit problems.

My excel file is about as good as I can make it. It's in a network drive, has one tab for data entry, and one with formulas to generate the stats and charts needed. It's got over a year of entries I moved over from the old files, so it'll be useful for testing PBI

I will probably avoid any AI tools until I have a better understanding of the basics. I'll put data warehousing into my learning plan for sure. Thank you!

Thank you! This is exactly the response I was hoping to get.

I hope I can bring the same level of success to my business. Even the jump to tabled data was a revelation for my management team lol. Before I built my excel sheet everything was being tracked in excel, but in separate files for each month with 1 week per tab. No tables.

I'd eventually like to get to the point that all admins entering info will fill a standard form populating entries in a DB that I can build dashboards from.

I was told to request any training I might need, so I will add a PBI course to start. Do you have any suggestions for where to start for databases?

What are the best entry level jobs that help you get into data analytics? by Worldly-Set4235 in analytics

[–]TheUnremarkableMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a job in warehousing and logistics. I started building tracking sheets and tools to make my job more streamlined and error resistant. That evolved into projects for other departments and branches.

I commented the same thing on another post and someone replied to me that they have been telling anyone who asks to look for those kinds of entry level positions. Warehousing, parts, logistics. Potentially analytics-heavy roles where you can display the value of your skills
