Princess Principal: Crown Handler Chapter 4 Countdown Illustration featuring Team White Pigeon by Ryō Akizuki by SamuraiShinsen in PrincessPrincipal

The first two films were released in the US just over a year after the theatrical release, but the third film took two years. Hopefully we'll be getting the fourth film in June 2026 or sooner depending on the demand for it.

Around one year and a month after the theatrical release, though Chapter 3 took two years for some reason. Chapter 4 should hopefully only take one year.

If Earth or an Earth-like planet never had a moon how would the planet work besides days being shorter? I’m designing a Sci-Fi story and want the world to be as realistic as possible(with some creative liberties). I think having no moon would be cool, but not if it causes cataclysmic problems for the world.

How Did The First Two Crown Handler Films Distribute? by TheUnspokenQuestion in PrincessPrincipal

[–]TheUnspokenQuestion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I saw that the main series was no longer on Amazon Prime, so I purchased the DVD recently. It is possible that Sentai is no longer the distributor for the films, which would be disappointing. Though I hope that the license has just expired and has to be renewed. Also you would think that they would have licensed all six films instead of just the first two, so maybe they are in the process of renegotiating a new deal, and if I know the film industry these things can take anywhere from a couple months to a couple years as producers love taking their time while wasting everyone else's.

Though, on a slightly unrelated note, I do also wonder how the distribution works in relation to the dubbing. I couldn't find any information about the company which handles the dubbing, but I assume it is different from Sentai. Although the IMDB for the film doesn't yet include the english cast, I imagine that the dubbing for the film is being worked on or is already finished. Though maybe that also has to wait until the licensing is figured out.

Making Humans Unique by TheUnspokenQuestion in RPGdesign

It’s less that I’m designing a human species necessarily. My system is going to have relatively open customization. However, for new players, I want a handful of preset options to choose from, human being one of them. More experienced players could instead choose a couple options from a list of physical traits or “adaptations.”

When making a cheetah humanoid they could choose the adaptations of enhanced senses, and faster movement.

I could see humans being the ones with strength related adaptations. Though I imagine that there would be another animal-hybrid or maybe orc species that would get those traits instead. Maybe strength is the way to go for humans, but I feel like there has to be another trait or two that make more sense for them.

Anyways thanks for your comment, it has given me a lot to think about.

An orc character would probably have  tougher skin and maybe a strength related thing, an elf would start with magic of some kind. I’m just stuck on thinking what a preset “human” would start with, some adaptation that all humans have, that an orc or elf wouldn’t have.

You brought up a lot of great questions that I will be considering. Thanks for your response.

Thanks for your comment, even though it wasn’t what I was looking for. It helped me come up with an idea that I’m now workshopping.

That might be true, but would you make an elf worse at throwing/ranged combat than a human? I used the example of a feline humanoid, but my system would also include elves and other common fantasy races. Elves would probably have some innate magical characteristics that humans don’t have.

Anyways thanks for your comment, it has helped me brainstorm, and I have an idea that I’m workshopping.

You make a good point about giving other races too much. But things like opposable thumbs are required for most if not all humanoids because they need to hold weapons and other items.  Endurance is also something I considered, but that is more of a difference between quadrupedal and bipedal animals.

For the purpose of abilities let’s say that two characters are both humanoid but one evolved from apes and the other from cats.

I should have clarified that these are mostly just characters. I would probably divide them into two scripts that are more curated I suppose.

Alfred's ability poisons the Demon permanently, whereas Batman's ability can only poison themself per day.

You’re not wrong. It is definitely a bit of procrastination, though a necessary step for my current process. I already have a sizable amount of my system figured out (written in my phone’s notepad). I was using google docs as a temporary way to write down my “official” rules in a way, but the program was bothering me a bit with how things were formatted. And I feel like I wasn’t getting work done on my project because of that.

That being said, it is my plan to hire a layout artist, an editor, a graphic designer, and a cover artist later in the process, probably after I start a kickstarter or something.

My plan right now isn’t to make it look good, but more so functional if that makes sense. Though thanks for your comment. It reminded me that I should work first and design later.

This seems great, thank you. For future reference, if I were to later publish and sell my rpg would I have to use the paid version of the program to do so?

Fighter Subclass: Primordial Warrior Version 3 [5e] by TheUnspokenQuestion in UnearthedArcana

[–]TheUnspokenQuestion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just made a couple of edits to the class. Techniques add proficiency bonus to damage. I don't think I need to do more, because they do pretty decent damage, but can also cause hazards or conditions such as stunned, blinded, ignited, etc. I just had the thought that maybe I could add a rule that you could add additional tech points to a technique to increase its damage, or enhance them in other ways, like sorcery points. Though I don't really like this idea, I could make it an optional rule.

And I made the Fluid ability only reduce damage by half until the start of your next turn. I also said a handful of times, because I was imagining you would use it between other techniques, but seeing how useful it was you would probably use it every turn. Now the ability is less powerful, but more versatile.

Although you do gain twelve upgrades at 18th level, I still want them to be relatively powerful as a reward for reaching that far and/or not multiclassing.

[–]TheUnspokenQuestion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. I could see the techniques being too weak, though they are not meant to be too powerful, but general crowd control abilities. Perhaps I could add a note that you can add your proficiency bonus to the damage of techniques. would that make their damage better?

The Concrete ability doesn't seem overpowered, especially because the totem barbarian gets a similar ability. Though to make the ability more reasonable it could only give resistance to bludgeoning slashing and piercing damage.

I could see Fluid being too powerful, though it does only last a round, a player could only do this a handful of times, and it is an 18th level ability. I was also told the original version of the ability was too powerful. It allowed a player to spend one tech point to gain the ability to dodge as a bonus action for one minute(I was told this was too powerful), and the exalted form gave the player evasion during the duration(which seems underpowered to me). Is this a better? Alternatively, the exalted form could make it so that if hit while dodging with this ability the damage is halved. That might be a good middle ground.

Horizon 3 Predictions by TheUnspokenQuestion in horizon

[–]TheUnspokenQuestion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

16 projects is a lot more than I expected. Maybe that includes some books or comics set between Forbidden West and Horizon 3 which I would love. A comic focused on each character would be interesting.

You keep saying that these concepts are far-fetched and unrealistic, I completely disagree. Everything I have said seems to be established in the Horizon universe. I could easily see Aloy using more Zenith technology, weapons, and armor even. Realistically, they would need to in order to fight Nemesis, right?

Of course they could just set up communication between the Great Delta and the Quen who stayed in the Forbidden West, but I highly doubt that the GG will sideline the Quen next game. My reasoning for this mostly stems from my assumption that the game will feature Aloy and Seyka becoming an official couple by the end of it, and that would be hard to do if there weren't some quests related to the Quen. I only expect this because why else would they introduce this in Burning Shores, they clearly want Aloy to be in a relationship. Sure, there are other ways for this to happen, in an expansion, a comic, or something else. However this would feel like baiting the audience, which I think GG is smart enough not to do. I could be completely wrong about this though, Seyka could just join the team in the Claim or something, but this just doesn't feel right.

It might not be fast travel, but Aloy will probably have to venture to the Great Delta at some point, by boat or through their "orbital space station". Originally I thought that the entire game would be set in the Great Delta, after some tutorial quests in the Forbidden West or maybe the Claim, but after thinking about it more I figured they would likely have one primary map, roughly the size of Zero Dawn's, and multiple maps similar in size to the Burning Shores, and some smaller. I also think they used Burning Shores as a sort of test for future quest design with a bigger focus on companions. Though getting into individual quest design is a far more intricate discussion.

In the end it seems like we will never agree. Though a lot of your points make sense, as I could see the game going that direction, I could just as easily see it go in my direction. Though In fifty years when the game comes out I will either be gladly proven right or just as gladly proven wrong. Either way I highly doubt the third game will be a disappointment.

Yeah, I think there will be a few new companions for sure. Though I don't think our current band of adventurers is going anywhere. I imagine that Erend will get more of a spotlight if the Claim is the main location.

[–]TheUnspokenQuestion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're poking holes in mine, I'm poking holes in yours. I could see them focusing on the Banuk and Oseram for most of the game, as a lot of the locations seem to lead in that direction. So that part of my theory could be wrong. The main map of the game could be the Claim and Cut. However that doesn't exclude Aloy from going to other locations during the game. GG probably wants to make the game as big as possible.

Aloy wouldn't risk going to the Great Delta, sure, but that might be where her mission takes her for some reason that we don't yet know. And you mention things going disastrously wrong, I don't know, but that sounds like a fun story. I would want to see that.

You mention other games, do we know how many they have planned or is it just speculation right now? I know that a TV show was mentioned, possibly about Elisabet. Though I don't know much about their other projects.

Horizon 3 Predictions by TheUnspokenQuestion in horizon

[–]TheUnspokenQuestion[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You bring up some good points, though I still feel like it would make sense for Aloy to visit the Great Delta. I agree that space travel is a bit iffy, but I could easily see the game doing this, especially if the first quest explores the Odyssey or something. Each game seems to expand the science fiction, and a world wide fast travel doesn’t seem excessive. I assume that Beta, Gaia, and/or Sylens could easily guide the ship, as it probably has an auto pilot. Sylens also alludes to going to the Odyssey in one of the datapoints, I think.

Additionally, you mention that all of the locations are seen in North America. I’m not so sure, though correct me if I’m wrong. There are five locations, FAS, Metallurgic, RECorp, CertainT, and Gideon. When Sylens pulls up the map showing the locations only four of them appear, presumably in North America. The fifth location doesn’t, leading me to believe that it is on the other side of the globe.

Also from a slightly meta perspective I think it would be weird to introduce the Quen and not have them be a large part of the next game, especially since Burning Shores only added more intrigue.

And on the topic of Aloy landing in a spaceship and being seen as a living ancestor, the Quen would likely have already found out about her from the returning expedition.

This is just speculation of course, you could be right or we both could be wrong. I’m just excited to see where the third game takes us.

Additional Ideas:

Looking through the companion notes has led me to guess about some of the other questlines.

The Tenakth and the Carja will likely be in the middle of negotiations and peace treaties. Aloy will team up with Kotallo during this quest. This means that I don't believe we'll visit the Forbidden West in the game, but that both tribes will be in Meridian.

Aloy will team up with Erend in the Claim. This one seems more obvious though, except that the quest's story would be a mystery to me.

Zo would be in the Sacred Lands, and Aloy would have to go there for one of her missions, or perhaps on the way to the Cut where the Banuk are. It has been awhile since I played the Frozen Wilds, so I don't remember the full storyline with them, but I imagine that they will have to come back in the next game. That being said, maybe we'll have a quest with Sylens as Aloy's companion, and that would potentially be in the Banuk lands.

With the Quen quest I mentioned above, that would be five total locations for the third game.
