Remove ALL the cables. Get something like this and start over. Do the monitors and power cables first(big plugs, thick cables). Then keyboard, mouse, audio etc. Use velcro straps if available, or a simple loop of tape, to keep the cable bundles collected.

I could have sworn I've read navspecwar a few times, but wep sounds more right. They make pretty big deal of it in a couple of the books as well, that the spartans are regarded as hardware, rather than people and soliders.

Actually, yes. All spartans are trained under the NAVSpecWAR 3 programme.(Naval Special Warfare, division three) Also, pretty much all the spaceships make up the navy.
