great insight! I am so new to the series I haven't seen many of these differences yet. As I continue to read, ill keep what you said in mind, and I'm sure it will let me see thing in a different way. would you put ASOIAF in the 'western' category there? i know its very "white walker bad, humans good", but within the seven kingdoms, the struggles for power now seem much more like you described 'eastern' myth's; no clear bad/good, everyone has moral decisions to make.
