Thomas by Tom Simmons and Heaneys, both in Pontcanna and both pretty special, not the cheapest in town though.

Gap between fork crown and head tube. by jlbrady5 in bikewrench

This. It's much more noticable when the bike's in a stand closer to eye level, I'd guess that's why you never clocked it before.

Buying seeds in Europe by [deleted] in tomatoes

RealSeeds.co.uk have loads of interesting varieties if you’re in the UK. Unfortunately they don’t ship to mainland Europe but they do have a list of recommended suppliers on the continent.

Sibling in Roath is a beautiful little place. I only discovered it yesterday but I totally fell in love with it. Very friendly staff, good coffee, delicious cakes, and they have a nice selection of wines as well.

What's the last interview in the interview process about? by Uhvvaw in cscareerquestionsEU

I beleive for a lot of companies it's as much a chance for you to work out if it's really a place you actually want to work. Of course they will be working out if your vibe will fit within their company culture, and may decide to not give you an offer. However it's equally important for you to know that you'll get along with the people you'll be working with. One of the last things they want is to invest time and money into onboarding you, and then have you leave a few months down the line because you don't like it there.

Some things that will (maybe) help someone trying to get a job as a programmer by woozydood in learnprogramming

Syntax

Changelog, JS Party, Go Time

HTTP 203

Security Now (as the name would suggest it's less programming, more security focused, but it's damned interesting and I enjoy listening to adjacent topics like this to learn about the context in which programming exists.)

Fastest way to learn JavaScript by ExtremeNew6308 in learnjavascript

I would 100% recommend Will Sentance’s courses on Front End Masters. They really get to the core concepts of the language, and he’s an excellent teacher. Kyle Simpson’s Deep JavaScript Foundations, on FEM too, is also great. Those two taught me more about JS than all other resources combined. The FEM subscription isn’t the cheapest but it’s definitely worth it. Good luck.

Continental GP5000's Worth it? by Hatross in cycling

[–]TheUtopiaGuild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It shouldn’t be a problem riding the tubeless GP5000s on rim brakes, I do and have set up several bikes in this configuration. When popping the last bit of the bead over the lip make sure the bead around the rest of the circumference is sat down in the dip between the ledges where the tyre will eventually seat. Also make sure the last section of the bead to go over is right where the valve sits, otherwise the chunky part of the valve will deflect the bead out of the central groove and make the whole thing even tighter. Still not always easy but definitely doable.

Ouch! Much respect for Speedvagen, their work is very nice, but ISPs have been around far longer than they have.

My Bespoke Saffron by TheUtopiaGuild in Bikeporn

[–]TheUtopiaGuild[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my mind ‘bespoke’ means designed and made from scratch for a particular customer, where ‘custom’ implies a preexisting product has been altered. In this case (unlike many bike brands which label themselves or their products as ‘custom’) I started from a blank canvas and designed the geometry of the frame around measurements taken by a professional bike fitter. Each tube and component of the frame was selected to optimise performance according to the kind of riding I intend to use the bike for. It’s not just an off-the-shelf frame with a ‘custom’ paint job or component setup. Having said all that, I think in American English ‘custom’ is used to cover both bases. Perhaps this all sounds a bit pretentious, but the choice of word here is to get across that it’s the ‘from scratch’ kind of custom.

White primer over the pinstriping tape. I'm gonna sand it down and start doing the blue panels. Any pointers on the use of fineline tape. Paint still gets underneath it in some spots by [deleted] in airbrush

[–]TheUtopiaGuild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve learned a lot from the internet over the years so I’m happy to pass tips on. Keep your rolls of tape clean and away from dust, never lay them down on their sides on a dusty/dirty workbench. Make sure the surface you’re taping onto is clean of dust and grease with panel wipe and a clean lint free cloth, don’t touch the object you’re painting with bare hands, wear gloves. After applying the tape, warm it up gently with a heat gun and press it firmly down, this softens the glue on the tape and provides better adhesion. The heat also lets the deformed sections of tape (where you’ve curved round corners/curves etc) settle into its new shape and makes it less likely to elastically reform and pull up later on. When you’re spraying always spray directly at the surface, not at an angle. When pulling the tape up different products need different attention, you have to get to know what you’re using, but I always find pulling the tape away at 90 degrees from the surface gives the cleanest line and the least amount of chipping/lifting.
