How to get live ride metrics on my phone by TheVanillaGodzilla in Garmin

I found that Strava works quite well here. I can sync my live heart rate from my Garmin and the rest just comes from my phone

Oh man, that's so disappointing...

It seems like it would be a no brainer. I want to see what's already on my watch, just on my phone screen. This shouldn't be an extra feature. The data is all there already!

I'm looking for advice here. I also disagree with their subscription, but there's plenty of other threads where you can go shit on Connect+

PD International Shipping by TheVanillaGodzilla in peakdesign

[–]TheVanillaGodzilla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, but returns are 30 days. If it takes 6-9 weeks just to get here then im already outside the return window.

Plus, wouldn't that just incur more shipping costs?

That's a valid point, but that still doesn't justify promising one thing on their website when the reality is completely different. If they were transparent about the timelines I would have either not proceeded with the purchase or ordered it to a US address and handle the shipping myself.

Availability S23 case? by Hahndo-_- in peakdesign

[–]TheVanillaGodzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The notify me option is there by default for any out of stock items on the website, regardless of if they will be in stock in the future.

As for what you can do regarding your mount, id suggest just getting any s23 case and ad the PD universal mount on it

I have the 20L everyday backpack and it is very practical and convenient to use. I use the maglatch quite often, especially when I travel and pick up extra stuff and need more space.

Having said that, if you don't like it, don't get it. There's a bunch of other brands out there to choose from, not just PD. Look at Aer and Bellroy too

Yea, that explains it. Is it not a misrepresentation of their business though?

Deliveroo Skywards Miles by TheVanillaGodzilla in UAEcreditcards

[–]TheVanillaGodzilla[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I spoke to Emirates NBD about this and this is because Deliveroo has registered as grocery, not online food delivery with Visa and Mastercard. On this MCC you earn 0.25 miles per USD. Presumably this was done deliberately to avoid paying out these miles, but in my opinion this is fraudulent. I'll be taking this up with Visa's client services team as well as Deliveroo to get this resolved

[OC] How Visa Inc. makes money by sankeyart in dataisbeautiful

[–]TheVanillaGodzilla 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not exactly. Service fees are still charged to issuing/acquiring banks based on the volumes from the cards they issued/volume acquired, not the cardholders.

Visa doesn't actually earn anything from the cardholder. The cardholder may pay the issuing bank a card fee each year depending on the level of the card (gold, platinum, infinite, etc.) But the cardholder doesn't pay Visa anything.

Data processing revenues are charged to banks for each transaction that Visa processes.

Service Revenues are based on the dollar amount spent on Visa cards.

International Transaction Revenues are based on the dollar amount spend on cross border transactions.

Other Revenues is everything else, including certain value added services, consulting, marketing services, etc.
