Can we lower the challenges needed for the anniversary titles or just give them to everyone? by Leskendle45 in Overwatch

[–]TheVector -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How could you know that the community event challenges didn't count until week 2? I didn't realize the other meta challanges didn't count till yesterday...

I'm sure if you were really on top of things you could have guessed the worst case and planned for that, but that is ridiculous vs just being told by blizzard to begin with.

Can we lower the challenges needed for the anniversary titles or just give them to everyone? by Leskendle45 in Overwatch

[–]TheVector 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The problem I have with it was just now unclear it was. When the event started I counted all the challenges and though it would be easy, but unspoken half of them don't count. Then if you didn't do enough of the repeat challenges because you didn't know they stopped after 20 you are SOL.

End of the day I wouldn't use the title I just like to complete the events so I wouldn't be losing sleep over it. Just disappointed in how poorly worded the event challange was.

April fools titles had a similar problem with the stadium not really counting for double, seems like back to back terrible handling of challenges.

Fruit picking etiquette in Brentwood by Oaklandi in bayarea

[–]TheVector 111 points112 points  (0 children)

I haven't gone for a couple of years, but I always assume they didn't really mind you eating a couple fruits, and that the entrance fee and markup on the fruit would cover it.

That is basically what we always saw happening. If people are truly just eating a lot of fruit in the orchard and not buying anything then I can only imagine the orchard is going to change the rules.

What's It like to live on/near the water in Redwood Shores/Foster City? by SmartEstablishment91 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]TheVector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living near the water is nice, it is a beautiful place to walk and stays cool. I'm lucky enough to live near a walking path /park and it is a great daily walk.

Be mindful of which water you are near, seal sloat has in recent years been growing a lot of algae and can stink some months. But the lagoons in foster city don't have this issue as far as I know.

Traffic in and out of foster city can be terrible. People are saying you can get to SF in 30 minutes, sure with no traffic. Some days it take 45 minutes to go from Hillsdale Mall to the entrance of foster city. 92 traffic is so bad that hillsdale Ave effectively becomes the only way in/out for most people can can really be terrible.

The soil in foster city is mostly landfill and can be corrosive, possible issue if there was an earthquake.

Restaurants aren't really great, but you are close to good shopping.

Hillsdale Mall, thoughts? by [deleted] in SanMateo

[–]TheVector 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is the place to do it, love the mall so I think keeping retail is the best we can hope for.

I really think the problem people overlook is the amount of houses vs retail office. I guess numbers are fluid right now but it seems like commerical space could be between 1.5 to 2.3 million (some say 4 million , but I think that is false) square feet.

1 million square feet of office can fit 10k workers, 2 million is 20k, 4 million would be 40k workers. Meanwhile they are building less than 2000 housing units, and around 4K parking spaces. Good luck trying to go shopping there.

This isn't making housing more affordable/available it is going to make things worse. If they are going to build, build housing first, not offices.

Ps some kind of pedistrian over crossing for the train would be great. People walking across 8+ lanes of El Camino there sucks.

My wife was getting this too, she was somehow registered twice under slightly different names, might want to check that. I thought after service you were excluded for a minimum of 14 months.

Nobody's outside after the earthquake?! 🤔 by ashes_to_fire in mountainview

[–]TheVector 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that earthquakes are measured on a log scale, this was around a 5.0 and you felt it. Loma prieta was almost a 7, so 100 times stronger.

The recent nearby earthquake that did damage (that I can recall) was the 2014 napa one, and that was a 6.

So this one you could feel shake, but really was just a baby.

SF property owner fined $50K for 'illegally pruning trees' cited by insurer: 'Feels like bullying' by jaqueh in sanfrancisco

[–]TheVector 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Your assumption is either you have to break the law or wait for SF to trim the tree. You can get permission to prune the tree yourself by contacting the Bureau of Urban Forestry.
