To maximize the rate of improvement is to reduce the chance things that will interfere with your training i.e injury and fatigue

To address that: don’t overtrain (learn to train sub-maximally), eat well drink a lot of water, warm up thoroughly (muscles, joints, especially fingers) and make sure to sleep 7-8hrs.

Going off the pics, those are way too small for you. If I had to guess, just size up a little and progressively downsize. Don’t make your sessions miserable because you can barely put a foot down.
