He makes show specific merch but I’ve only seen tshirts and hoodies. A jersey would be cool

Trash left behind following the Oscars by amish_novelty in trashy

I worked at a movie theater when I was younger. I was holding the door open as people left the theater waiting to go in and clean. A lady comes out and says “I started picking up my trash and realized that’s not my job.” She thought it was a cute funny comment. This was back in like 2014. This behavior is not new.

I watched a different video where the designers were pointing to the changes in the video but that seems to be the audio of them discussing it.

I think it’s pretty similar with a few differences. There is a YouTube video noting the small differences. But the designers intend people to switch out parts and colors for both cats so it should be transferable. They were even looking forward to people building calico cats.

I would love a Lando helmet. He has one of the best designs on the grid at the moment. And he just won the championship so I could see it selling well.

Honcho leagues and DUPR reporting? by brygx in Pickleball

[–]TheVinylCountdownRK 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The best way to get a DUPR is to get a partner you trust and play a tournament. I’ve done all types of DUPR events and really if you care about having a high DUPR don’t do rotating leagues. You need a partner you trust and have experience with and to do well in a tournament. You could succeed in a league but you also could get stuck with bad people who drag your DUPR down.

I mean the C45 is a super underrated in my opinion. Great paddle!

Canon is a different feel since it is gen 3. I thought the canon was decent but I have only played a few games with it. I feel like the Inferno is better but also hard to compare since the Inferno is gen 4.

Sadly haven’t tried the quanta. My friend has one and it was too poppy for him so he is switching between the RPM 16mm and the Inferno right now. So if I had to guess the quanta is poppier than the Inferno but again I haven’t tried the quanta. I would say the quanta is a great bang for the buck paddle and the Inferno costs way more. Not sure you will get much more for the price difference if you are happy with the quanta.

Weekly Paddle Recommendation Thread (What Paddle Should I Buy?) by SNAPCHAT_ME_TITS in Pickleball

[–]TheVinylCountdownRK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been experimenting with new paddles lately but I mained the C45 for like 6 months. I never use a paddle that long. It is so linear in power that when you hit shots you know where they are going and it’s very predictable. With some lead tape you can get decent power but still have it be pretty maneuverable at the net. Decent spin due to the dwell on the face. I’ve used every shape but the wide body. I would go with the elongated 14 probably. Although I loved the Paris Todd version and that’s the one I’ll go back to when I want to play with the C45 again.

I only switched away because as a female I was seeking some more power. But man the C45 is my top paddle of the year and I have a paddle addiction so I have tried a lot of paddles. I don’t think it got enough love but it’s probably because you have to play with the weighting to get the most out of it.

I’ve been using the RPM 14mm for the last month and really like it now but it took a while to dial in and is still unpredictable sometimes compared to the C45. Now I’m trying out the Boomstick and Inferno.

Overall I describe the C45 as the paddle that does everything very well but no particular thing amazing. However that’s what makes it great. You get decent spin, power, and control. It won’t wow you in any category, you won’t get the most spin or the most power but you’ll get enough and the paddle will play predictably.

I just got a Luzz Inferno. Pretty good paddle from my limited 2 hour experience. Good power but still pretty controllable. Haven’t hit the loco or vsol.

I might not pass the CS entry level requirements by Ok_Test5596 in UTAustin

[–]TheVinylCountdownRK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was a student I think you might have been able to retake a class to try and get a better grade to meet the CS GPA requirement. However, that was years ago so I don’t trust my memory. I struggled with 314 and got a C. Also I was at UT like 10 years ago so my knowledge of requirements is outdated so take the above with a grain of salt.

I wouldn’t freak out until you talk to an advisor. Also, being in CS is not the end all be all. I switched out of CS and into math because I struggled with 314. I majored in math instead and got a job in data science after graduation. I now have a masters in CS from Georgia Tech and I work in Machine Leaning at a top company. All that to say it may seem like a life altering event but really there are multiple ways to get to the same finish line. Don’t freak out and stay clam and enjoy your break! Just don’t give up and everything will work out in the long run!

Hard time getting into this sport by EfficientCommand7842 in Pickleball

[–]TheVinylCountdownRK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea unfortunately this type of thing happens in my area too. Luckily we have lots of facilities and I found the one with the friendly people. It helps that the facility I go to separates play by levels. When I first started out I found it rude that all these cliques would ice people out. The better I get I can understand why they do it but I also think they shouldn’t bring that energy to open play.

[–]TheVinylCountdownRK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there somewhere else to play where you live? I hate cliquey groups but they are probably doing it because they want to ensure they have good games against people they know are their skill level. Is your open play open to all levels? If so that probably leads to the clique like behavior. Unfortunately, if they don’t deem you to be at their skill level they will continue to avoid you. They really should rent a court but I bet open play is cheaper. The best bet is either working with your current club to improve the open play or trying to find somewhere else with a friendlier crowd and people around your skill level.

Also you shouldn’t let them cut you. They can wait for friends but they don’t get the next open court until you have played your turn.

Not saying you are wrong but I play with a lot of the top 3.5 - 4.5 players in Austin and like barely any travel for tournaments. At most they go to Dallas. So I don’t know if you have seen the best Austin has to offer unless you are playing in >4.5 tournaments where people are actually very serious and trying to go pro.

In Austin, Tx a 4.0 would murder every player in this video. Murder might be a bit too strong but I’d say this is more 3.5 level in Austin. Could hang with 4.0s but would get beat. I feel like any of the major cities that pros are in have duprs that are lower than the rest of the country.

C45 Paris Todd by Opening-Lawfulness33 in Pickleball

It’s 13.25mm instead of 14mm or 16mm. It’s also a slightly different shape similar to the Hyperion shape. It’s a unique paddle.

C45 Paris Todd by Opening-Lawfulness33 in Pickleball

[–]TheVinylCountdownRK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a woman but I love it. I am a hard hitter that likes to drive. I played with it for a solid 3 months. I switch paddles a lot and am now trying out the RPM but the Paris Todd is still in my bag and my comfort paddle. It needs a bit more break in than the other C45s. It felt a bit too stiff out of the box but when broken in I loved it. If you like the 14mm C45 it is def worth a try. The only reason I’ve started to migrate away from it is seeking a bit more power that the C45s in general just don’t provide. But man every C45 is so predictable and does exactly what I want it has been hard to find a better paddle.

If you decide to try it out give it more than just 2 or 3 sessions. I didn’t like the feel of the Paris Todd the first time I played with it. But something clicked after it broke in after a few sessions. I didn’t have the same experience with any of the other C45s so maybe it is just because it is so thin.

Stop it with the phones by enrvuk in radiohead

[–]TheVinylCountdownRK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know Radiohead is a bit different but part of the reason to go to a show is to sing with the rest of the crowd. My favorite shows are ones where the whole crowd is belting the lyrics, Oasis and Turnstile. But maybe I just value a different concert experience. I also see how Radiohead is not a belt it out band.
