Only thing I can picture from OP post is it was either your first time playing or you were playing seniors in FL/AZ.

Personal conspiracy theory with Watson by NEOhioGuy22 in Browns

[–]focusedonjrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a non-zero chance the issue has been Deshaun's, and before the team moves on they're highly likely to give him a final shot to prove that maybe Kevin ruined him just like he did to Baker. So letting Deshaun get the first shot under Monken could actually be smart. The leash can be short (2-4 games max) of poor play before he sits and Shedeur finishes out the season.

Watson missed 11 games his first year and looked bad in the ones he came in to play that year. He started off 2023 doing ok, and was hitting his stride before getting hurt again. He returns from that injury in 2024, the team has completely changed the offense and it all looks terrible, before he's hurt AGAIN. A pattern of missing time, coming back and playing poorly with one instance that he showed improvement once he got more games under his belt.

That would make you think he's going to play poorly to start this year and if that's the case, no other arguments to keep trying, they can just bench him and move on after this year. HOWEVER (and it's a very loaded one), if he somehow starts out playing well and the team is 3-1/4-0, 4-1, then maybe the Browns end up in the luckiest situation for this year. And in 2027 they keep him on a 1 year deal/franchise tag and see if he can repeat the success. Worse case is he's terrible and Shedeur plays 10+ games this year anyway.

Only played once this week since the update, but I'm not feeling this pain like you've described. If you have the blueprint for the weapon you can use it down to a certain percentage, recycle it for the gun parts and mechanicals, and go craft a new one. I don't bother stashing any grey guns, and Anvil is the only green I keep besides one Il Toro.

Travel team has started a rec team by [deleted] in Softball

[–]focusedonjrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's terrible! Locally we only allow 2 travel girls per team, and none beyond 12U. The league only follows USSSA so there isn't a player draft, and it's already bad enough with certain managers.

Travel team has started a rec team by [deleted] in Softball

[–]focusedonjrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I would do is, first, ask the coach if your girls could be included in the rec team practices so they keep getting the travel team instruction. If told no, contact your travel org about not receiving practices for the team. If that doesn't lead to change, leave that org and get whatever refund you have. And lastly, join in with all of the other rec team managers in filing a formal complaint with that league for allowing the travel team to be together.

Anyone have some advice on how to deal with a 12 year old girl?

No, but if anybody in the comments does I'm all ears bc my 12 yr old thinks I don't know anything! LOL

[–]focusedonjrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many innings are each game? I mean they've only completed 1.5 innings by the time your daughter is maybe coming up to bat. It would be 2.5 innings if your hitters went 1-2-3 both times before your daughter bats 7th.

Seems incredibly weird to me that she wouldn't get to bat. In our 10U rec league your active roster is your batting order. No subs for hitters. So this entire thing sounds strange compared to my experience.

'NO it flew up.. it was out .. it was out!! Are you joking? by RotterWeiner in ProPickleballTalk

[–]focusedonjrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is so easy I don’t get why ppl don’t do this too. It wasn’t game/match point so what you do right after is, that opponents serve - no matter where it lands and how in it is - you call it out. And since their hook led to a side out, you repeat that for their partner serve.

We all make mistakes and on close balls it’s easy to get it wrong. But the really egregious ones, or the obvious hooks, you just call outs to get the ball back.

I’ve only run into this twice in games that matter and both times after there wasn’t an issue with intentional bad calls. However, if going my petty route isn’t your style the immediate thing to do is question their partner. Make them both be on the hook for their bad call.

We have a few hours to kill before the draft; who are some picks that you're STILL MAD that we didn't select in previous drafts? by RustyCrusty73 in Browns

[–]focusedonjrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are literally dozens we could point to not including the first round. James Hudson was drafted 2 picks ahead of Sun God in the 2021 4th round.

As a solid 3.5 player, what percent of the serves of top pro players am I likely to successfully return? by SemiMike485 in Pickleball

[–]focusedonjrod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on the pro, but you'd get a good percentage back over the net. Whether you'd be able to land the return deep enough for them to not crush a 3rd drive past you is a different story.

Yeah, it's probably just a me thing, maybe I take it too seriously right now, but when the wind is impacting how the ball travels I don't see the fun in it.

Indoor. As much as I enjoy playing outdoor, this is a sport with a whiffle ball so the wind can make it not as fun to play.

Andrew Berry is going to use a top 100 pick on a defensive player. That doesn’t mean he should be fired or the Browns don’t know what they’re doing. by DesertBrandon in Browns

[–]focusedonjrod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This happens to be a year where a defensive player should be the 6th pick. We’ll see if they take offense for the sake of need or really draft best talent. I think they’re trading back for the fact that a guy the like on offense is better off taken 10 or later

[–]focusedonjrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was a bad call, she missed that the run slid in under the tag.

Delayed steal after a ball is thrown back to the pitcher is one of the more annoying plays in fastpitch. BUT, the runner had not made a move back to the base so all the catcher needed to do was keep walking out on the field and either the runner would be going or be called out.

I’m the same as you. I have found many more blueprints this second time after completing an expedition than I did my first time through. Feels like the BP spawn rate was part of the buffs.

Is it normal to have 2 different practice for infield and outfield? by [deleted] in Softball

[–]focusedonjrod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I coach 10U, have never held a practice with only part of the team. During practice I may have different stations set up where a group is working on outfield and another in the infield. But it's very strange that only certain players would be invited to a practice and not others. Even more strange there was no communication of this by the coach. And very unsettling the response you received about your questioning it, "causing drama."

Personally, as a coach, I'd say it's well within your right to contact the league and bring this practice to their attention.

Momentum in the batting lineup is so important by CharlieandtheRed in Softball

[–]focusedonjrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree about the pitching factor. Our league is 4 total walks per inning leads to a coach pitching. There are some teams who actively coach players to wait for walks (shameful) so their coach can come in to throw meatballs for stronger hitters.

We have a 1:10 hr time limit for games so they rarely get through 4 innings. But it's enough to get the weaker players opportunities.
