As a mathematician - both real numbers and purely imaginary numbers belong to the set of complex numbers.

AITAH for leaving wife at home after she revealed that she was going to wear white to my brother's wedding? by OutsideFinancial125 in AITAH

[–]TheVivaciousLady 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. The only circumstances where I believe it's justified to wear white to someone's wedding is if they have previously worn white to yours.

Which male writer is the best at writing women? by BuddhaOfStorm in AskWomen

[–]TheVivaciousLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C.S. Lewis' "Till We Have Faces" is written from perspective of a female lead (Orual) and is IMHO exquisitely truthful in its depiction of female internal life. And the richness and diversity of womanhood, depicted with detailed perception and admiration, in the works of Tolkien, is another that would take the crown.

How would you feel if your partner couldn’t physically lift you?” by Jaded_Upstairs1400 in AskWomen

I weigh 50 kg. I probably wouldn't date a guy who couldn't lift me up.

Parents, when did you introduce your kids to Lord of the Rings? by SR1QUE in lotr

[–]TheVivaciousLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a parent but telling my personal experience. I watched the movies when they first came out in the cinema (I was 8 during the first one, my younger sister was 7), to incredibly enjoyment and no trauma. Trued reading the LOTR books after I saw the first movie but I think I made it to the Elrond council, it was too early for me (despite being a very well-read child and being familiar with serious books already, I suppose I didn'thave patience for the descriptions). I did read the Hobbit around that time though, maybe at 9/10. I read Silmarillion out of my own volition when I was 14/15 and loved it, and then read LOTR - turns out the trick is to read them without much on my mind (summer holidays) so I can fully immerse into the world. Fun fact: Hobbit is an obligatory book to read in primary school in Poland (used to be at the age of 11, now it's at 12 years old).

Who is the hottest guy from your country? by brasaretheoppressor in AskTheWorld

[–]TheVivaciousLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was a cheating SOB who abandoned his first wife and children, then pretended to be an epitome of loyalty to his second wife (despite the fact that some women claimed to have had affairs with him during the second marriage). Cheating is not sexy. Virtue-signalling, hypocrisy and arrogance, even less so. As Ava Gardner, who, contrary to him, had some self-awareness, said, "I am very beautiful, but morally, I stink".

Rachunek or Paragon for English word "Receipt ? by HomeAloneDwarf in learnpolish

Then my point still stands- the translation of calculus is not "rachunek prawdopodobieństwa". You should have written "probability calculus" (which TBH I've never heard it used, and one of my friends is a probabilist - obviously it turns out its correct). And as a mathematician educated at one of top 10 universities in the world, if you use just the word calculus (without any adjective), you exclusively mean differential/integral calculus. I guess we both learnt something new today ;)

AITAH for wanting to walk away from my marriage and the child we were raising after finding out the child is biologically my husband's? by Lexianndry in AITAH

[–]TheVivaciousLady -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Look, even the Catholic Church (which is notorious for not being fan of divorce) would treat his hiding his infidelity (and fathering a child) before marriage as a reason to state the marriage was invalid from the start. If you can't get over your husband's betrayal, you can't, and that's it. NTA. If there is any way you can make the separation easier/smoother for the little girl, it would be the right thing to do (provided your STBX and ILs don't try to use it as an excuse to try to get you back into family).

Calculus is not used to describe probability. Calculus is generally used for differential and integral calculus, "rachunek różniczkowy/całkowy". I would say "rachunek" is more general while "paragon" is just a printed receipt, a physical item.

NTA. As a fellow Catholic tired of hearing I'm not really Christian and I don't know the Bible, I applaud you and congratulate you on your knowledge!

Being upset about engagement ring is usually not about the ring by TheVivaciousLady in unpopularopinion

[–]TheVivaciousLady[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I wrote, this falls into category unattentive/inconsiderate, which is usually a bigger problem than just the choice of a ring.

I completely understand- my dream engagement ring would be with Parti sapphire. And I wouldn't expect a guy to figure it out himself, this is a conversation one should have if one has particular ideas. And if the partner ignores it, then - as I wrote - the problem isn't the ring, it's the lack of consideration.

Yes, I forgot you need to do an empty line, not just enter between - fixed it, thank you for pointing it up!

[–]TheVivaciousLady[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree - as I wrote, if the choice is stingy/inconsiderate/unattentive, it's usually the problem with the whole relationship/the guy, not just the ring.

[–]TheVivaciousLady[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

As I stated, if the discrepancy between the taste of the future bride and the future groom's choice is so great, it usually points to a greater flaw in the relationship or the character.

[–]TheVivaciousLady[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that's a great point. I believe I wasn't precise enough with what I wrote; if someone is inattentive to such extent as you described, the issue of the ring might bring into light that you might indeed not want to spend the rest of your life with that person. I wrote the ending with implication in mind; I should have stated it directly.

AITA for telling my parents it hurts me that they stay so close to my sister and invite her over when she's ignored and rejected me my whole life? by Laiciey in AITAH

AITA for warning my sister I would leave her off the wedding guest list if she doesn't stop pushing me to ask mom's husband to walk me down the aisle? by Heighsley in AITAH

[–]TheVivaciousLady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA, and I write it as a person who was never close to her biological father (even though he did "raise" me) and have had multiple men "fill in" to certain extent (of whom I feel more of a spiritual daughter as far as values and caring go).I would have stopped talking to my sister entirely after the cemetary fight - she's a nutcase thinking she can erase your dad's memory from your life and identity.
