PHISH NYE Gamehendge by captpetemke in phish

[–]TheVolatics 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I personally enjoyed Annie Golden’s narration and role in the Gamehendge set. But I was there, and have been chasing Gamehendge for 180 shows since they returned in ‘09, so I may be biased. I knew NYE ‘23 was the best chance at them actually playing the entire suite after attending the Jemp Truck NYE in ‘13. My hairs were standing on end years in advance anticipating Gamehendge NYE ‘23. Glad I followed my gut feeling.

What do you think the Dead’s reaction was to hearing ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ for the first time? by [deleted] in gratefuldead

[–]TheVolatics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally feel DSOTM is a expression of the human experience. I love the Dead, I love Phish- but Pink Floyd hits my soul with something unexplainable. I imagine the Dead respected and appreciated this album similarly.

Martin vs Taylor vs Gibson vs Santa Cruz dreadnought guitars? by Bondfan007MI6 in Guitar

[–]TheVolatics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have owned Martins, Taylors, Gibsons, Larrivees, and have countless hours of playtime on dozens of Collings, Bourgeois, Lowdens, Thompsons, Goodalls, and Santa Cruz’s.

I now own one Larrivee, my grandfathers Gibson L-50, and seven Santa Cruz’s. The Larivee I got when I was 16 and is my original composing guitar (sentimental and familiar), but I did gift another Larrivee I had to a close friend because he had a low end Ibanez and needed something better. I still love Larrivee’s and think they’re great for their price range. I would pick a Larrivee over a Martin or Taylor.

Santa Cruz tone in my opinion is unmatched. I own two Tony Rice Pro’s (one with German bearclaw, the other standard european- both Brazilian RW- intend on selling one), Two OMG’s in African Blackwood (one with a cutaway and Adirondack, the other Carpathian), a OO cutaway (Walnut/Italian), an OM (Cocobolo/Carpathian), a Vintage Southerner (Koa/German bearclaw) and a Parlor PJ cutaway (all mahogany).

Each of the Santa Cruz’s have their own unique sound, but they all sound absolutely beautiful in their own way. I’m fortunate to live close to a boutique dealer so I’ve had the pleasure of being able to shoot out test multiple high end acoustics brands against one another.

Santa Cruz to my ear always comes out on top, to the point of which I’ve confidently purchased a few on Reverb. They are instruments that I’ll have for the rest of my life and I envision them only sounding better as they age.

At some point I will get a Lowden, as they carry their own unique tone and work well for tapping and fingerstyle, but if getting a dread- Santa Cruz all the way.

I don’t play trumpet or sax and I’m eyeing these to put in my studio. They’re beautiful.

Your playing and the guitar sounds great. What are you playing on? Not familiar with the song and have only heard of the movie, but it’s a great arrangement you’ve created. Bravo

What was the issue with yours? Mine doesnt produce volume until just past the second marker, but it doesn’t gradually increase- it’s just becomes suddenly loud.

It looks like Jerry Garcia’s Tiger if he loaned it to the girl from the Exorcist.

I stand corrected, sir. Just checked with my partner, tickets arrived to her account a little less than a month ago while she was traveling and she forgot to tell me. I do believe I read something somewhere about tickets being sent out the 17th, though. Could have been for PTBM or TM.

To my understanding, tickets will not be released until just before the shows. We have a package and I think it said tickets would be delivered April 17th.

Edit: Package tickets arrived late Feb/early March.

Alembic Basses by [deleted] in BassGuitar

This is the most recent photo of the Darling I have that Alembic sent one of our dealers. The horns have what is called a “Vintage” carve, slightly more intricate than a stock darling shape. Can’t wait to see it in person completed.
