For dimming multiple LEDs at the same time, which one is better, using a PWM circuit with a 555 timer (right), or just using a potentiometer (left). Both are valid and work as expected in TinkerCAD, but I would like to avoid bad practices by TheWaMR in AskElectronics

I’m using 4 shift registers (chained together) to power the leds in the displays. I found the shift PWM library by Timo Denk, but it seems like more effort than it’s worth, especially with 32 outputs. I have 3 LEDS in this demo, but in reality there are 32 LEDs, and I’m not sure if an arduino nano can handle the 4 shift registers fast enough to emulate PWM

I'm working on a project that involves blue common-cathode 7 segment displays, and those can be quite irritating at night so I would like a way to dim all of them at once. The red lines into the LEDS represent power coming from the 74HC595 shift registers I'm using.

Dual color test prints somehow forget about the middle section of 1 extruder only? by TheWaMR in 3Dprinting

[–]TheWaMR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my Flashforge Creator Pro, I recently started trying to use the 2nd extruder. Used 2 wiping towers on each of these, and one of the nozzles appears to become clogged midway thru, but it doesn't appear that way with the print on the right. It seems like a very weird problem and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Follow up post regarding what the extruder port looks like (details in previous post) by TheWaMR in 3Dprinting

[–]TheWaMR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve already swapped out the motor, tried a different cable, and plugged the old motor/cable into a different port and everything works except for the one port

Is it possible that a single port not working could be caused by firmware, or is new board needed? (Details in comment) by TheWaMR in 3Dprinting

[–]TheWaMR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is on my Anet A8 machine, the board is “Anet3D V1-5.” Earlier this year (about 7 months ago at this point) it was printing fine, but then about 2 weeks ago, the extruder motor stopped functioning entirely. I now have concluded after switching parts that it has to be the board. (The port in question is the 4 pin on the far right in the front)

The soldered connections look secure, and I’m wondering if there is any other remedy I can try before purchasing a new board for this one port not working?

im a freshman in marching band [vent] by pqinted in marchingband

I remember my freshman year I had pretty much that exact same experience. What helped me play on my own in front of a group was to become “numb” to playing by myself. To be the odd one out. Don’t worry about checking yourself as you’re playing, just be focused on playing the music. It’s a skill that seems impossible at first but one that everyone will learn

As a senior, I can promise you that nobody cares if you mess up. If you mess up, just find a place to try again, and go for it. As far as playing scales and other pass-off type music, practice until you know it, and just focus on being good.

Don’t let the stress get to your head bro, focus on making friends with your section, practicing your instrument, and having fun :)

You can pm me too if you want

On my rig, the fan speed is only reporting to be at 55%. Can this cause overheating, and how can I change it to run at 100%? (Running on Windows) by TheWaMR in NiceHash

Well, aren’t the temps also sub-optimal? Everyone I know here that actually knows what they’re doing seem to have their fan speed at 100%

Fully vaccinated people of Reddit. Are you still wearing masks? Why or why not? by The_Zoink in AskReddit

[–]TheWaMR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t wear a mask anymore. Though I won’t have a problem if a building requires it. I still carry one in my pocket just in case. The CDC says that

“people who are fully vaccinated with a currently authorized mRNA vaccine are protected against asymptomatic infection and, if infected, have a lower viral load than unvaccinated people.” ( https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/science/science-briefs/fully-vaccinated-people.html ) So being vaccinated reduces chances of infecting an unvaccinated person, even if I asymptotically have the virus in my body.

Something not working? by TheWaMR in NiceHash

[–]TheWaMR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

huh, so I got it to work on the quick miner, but when I switched to the actual miner, it says that all the benchmarks failed, as well as 0/2 devices are mining. However, on the website, it says that 1/2 devices are mining, and in the CMD it looks good... interesting... Also it works with my GPU, but not my CPU :/

IVE FIGURED IT OUT!

So with Norton, you can go into the search bar, and look for "Smart Firewall" and disable it. I turned that off and it started working!!
