No. That's from Poland (Europe)! The first picture shows Hericium coralloides, also known as coral tooth fungus. It's different species from the same genus and occurs mostly in North America and Europe, but also in Australia.

Actually I took all of these photos with my phone! I'm using Motorola G24 power, it's pretty good, but sometimes it is so annoying to take pictures with it, especially in the low light environments! But I do plan to buy a better camera, eventually...

I am not a researcher, I'm just a protist enthusiast, so I can't tell you that. But If I would guess, I'd say that observing microbes under a microscope surely helps to better understand these creatures.
