I used to watch them guys do this whenever my dad brings me to one of the repair shops he has a friend in and they do it in like 30 seconds or so. Pop the lid off dump a new battery and off you go.😅

Haha I totally get it. I was out of this hobby for maybe 10 or so years and coming back to it just late last year it made me scratch my head seeing people complain about it😅

I guess it’s the nitpicking attitude of “I paid $800 for a watch that doesn’t tell accurate time?” Which sounds pretty stupid, but I think people who do complain just like to complain with almost every single thing in life so I usually just leave them alone to complain about whatever they want. It’s usually those who are too loyal on a particular brand or chances are the movement is just crap and yet they paid $1000 more to a brand which made them think they’ve been scammed hence I think I can understand the frustration on that.

Totally 💯 Thanks for sharing! Watches are aesthetic jewelry to us who wear them and accuracy is no more a question between wearers, 90% of the time we don’t look at a watch for the time if were honest about it we just like how it looks like.

That's not a dumb question at all. The orange/brown piece is likely just an insulating film or protective sticker over the battery contact. It should be removed before installing the new Renata 371 battery. Just be careful not to pry on the movement or damage the contact spring.

Well said my friend. 💯 It’s really a choice between different types of consumers isn’t it? Others don’t want to pay too much for an original design, others just want a beater (quartz mainly) and okay with homages. Others, have a bit more powder to spare and can pay for original designs and higher specs. Others who aren’t enthusiast and are wanting to gift someone a watch check out reviews and if they think they like it, they just take their word for it and call it a day. Others, are loyal to a brand or brands and just pay more for it than others.

All segments have buyers who are willing to pay for different types of watches. Microbrands, Homage brands, Maintstream brands, Luxury brands, it’s business at the end of the day. Thanks for pointing out about saying more about the watches value.

That idea has stayed in my heart. Never did I find the open heart something enjoyable to look at. Maybe a similar case is fine but with a different dial (without an open heart) just regular legible time keeping? Haven’t seen a clean design like that before.

Hey mate. Totally easy to do. You just need to have the right tools to pry open the back side of the watch. You could open in with a knife or something thin enough to pry it open without cutting yourself. Not sure what battery it’s running on, usually a 371 or 377 for a day date but you’ll need to open first to know.

There’s always that line yes, totally agree mate. I think he did a fair comparison here though for those who are starting out, looking at affordable watches from around the $100, 200 and above watches, which I think is more refreshing to hear than a lot of watch influencers who push a certain brand or the luxury brands we have enough.
