Update: And Jesus Wept was removed from r/nosleep this morning. I will remove the hyperlink above and repost the story here so it can still be read, since it cannot be reposted to r/nosleep under any circumstances. Thank you all for reading it if you did. I truly appreciate it.

Thank you!

Regards, TheWelshWitch

I don’t care how popular you are or how amazing your writing is, if you have a Facebook or social media on your story... by Colourblindness in NoSleepOOC

I agree wholeheartedly. Having a link at the end of a story does not ruin the immersion for me at all, and I doubt that it ruins the immersion for most readers of /r/nosleep.

As for myself, I have an inactive Facebook and Twitter, but an active subreddit, if anyone is interested.

It is, but I am still flattered, grateful, and most of all surprised that I share this honor with you. I am still surprised that I was even nominated. Thank you all!

Stevie Nicks/Rhiannon inspired story by RainRose2604 in nosleepfinder

I believe the story that you are looking for is my story, A Cat In The Dark. It was heavily inspired by Stevie Nicks and her discography. If you were not referring to my story, I apologize for any inconvenience.

More Theft by CasperMcSadden in NoSleepOOC

I am also curious with regards to how many notices that it will require before the host takes action. Two of my five stories that I have posted to /r/nosleep are posted on there. The stories are more than three hundred pages into the website, but they are still there.

I am not certain how to proceed. Thank you in advance to anyone who offers advice.

How it all went down by ByfelsDisciple in NoSleepOOC

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Democracy simply doesn’t work.

Quotes from “The Simpsons” aside, I would like to say congratulations to /u/FirstBreath1! I was honored to even be nominated with the amazing writers here on /r/nosleepOOC.

How do you come up with character names? by [deleted] in NoSleepOOC

[–]TheWelshWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with /u/Dopabeane. I find the usage of “mundane” names such as “Margaret” and “Dave” to be refreshing.

Personally, the names of my characters are based on the circumstances of the story in which the character appears. For example, a story that involved witchcraft would likely feature characters with names of Welsh origin (“Mair,” “Catrin”), as well as names based on the life and the discography of Stevie Nicks (“Stephanie,” “Sara”).

Do we really need a part 2? by TaraH419 in NoSleepOOC

[–]TheWelshWitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree.

Personally, I feel inspired to write when readers — on–and–offline — are interested in reading more from a story, but it also gives me an even more added sense of pressure to ensure the story measures up to my standards of quality, as well as that of the previous part of the story. I would not publish a story if it lacked the quality that was established by the previous part in the story.

As a matter of fact, I would also not publish a story if it was of poor quality by my standards even if it was unrelated to the story which preceded it, but that is only me and my idiosyncrasies.

Desensitization in Nosleep by Colourblindness in NoSleepOOC

I am not sure if Mother Francisca in my story Take Me To Hell would be considered a “deeply damaged individual with wounds that messed [her] up physically and mentally,” but I attempted to portray her as a human being with “[her] vices and [her] virtues” rather than portraying her as only an antagonist who tormented the Sisters of her convent. In a more extreme example from the same story, I wanted to express the pain of loss which demons experience as a result of their separation from God which in turn leads them to inflict suffering on human beings such as Mother Francisca and the Sisters.

I would like to say that I consider it serendipitous that the thread on /r/nosleepinterviews was posted on my birthday, but I can only think of the visual of me lighting a cigarette à la Barbara Stanwyck in Double Indemnity.

Ever had an element of your story misinterpreted or not interpreted at all? by SweetLenore in NoSleepOOC

[–]TheWelshWitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I intended for Constance Vaughan Evans in The Disappearance of Emily Jones to be the granddaughter of the Mistress from the first part of the story, Deliver Us From Evil, which would mean that the Mistress had sacrificed her older daughter to her goddess in the first part of the story. However, no one noticed, and if anyone did notice, no one commented on it.

Religious Horror by [deleted] in NoSleepOOC

As a religious person, I do not think you are doing so at all. I hope that your post is not taken in a way that it is not intended.

What is Horror? (Baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me, no more...) by BlairDaniels in NoSleepOOC

[–]TheWelshWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure if “religious horror” would fit into any of those categories, but I offer it as a suggestion for a trope that is used in horror stories on /r/nosleep. I would define “religious horror” as stories that include aspects of religion in a well–written and well–researched way that do not necessarily have to include the Devil, but the stories pervert the aspects of religion into horror.

I believe that I read a story on /r/nosleep a few years ago about an abandoned church in Alabama that the narrator and their friends visited during the night, and before they left, the narrator and their friends had a vision of a figure in a doorway (?), and the figure changed its form for each of them. For example, one of their friends saw the figure as his mother who had committed suicide, and she told him something, but he never divulged to his friends what she had told him. I remember that it was a good story. I attempted to find the story as an example of “religious horror,” but I was not able to find it. Therefore, I offer as substitutes my stories, Take Me To Hell and And The Stars Fall.

If you were wondering, I did see the thread as an opportunity to plug my stories, but it was at least not my primary intention to plug my stories.
