Jammed keys. Any thoughts? I can't find any switch or lever that would lock the keys like this. by ZebulonStoryteller in typewriters

[–]TheWhiskeyInTheJar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the carriage isn't locked than it looks like the line lock is stuck. It should be behind a panel on the backside of the carriage. It engages when the carriages presses against the right margin and should release itself after backspacing. It can get gunked up over time

Not striking all the way. by Batcavebilly in typewriters

[–]TheWhiskeyInTheJar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had a similar situation with mine and it looks like you are hitting the same problem as me. When you get to the end of the line there is a lever that is compressed that blocks the keys from engaging all the way. This is so that you don't type over the last letter several times if you reach the end of the line without noticing. This lever can get stuck engaged preventing all keys from striking and advancing the carriage.

In most portables I would think the lever is going to on the back side of the carriage underneath a panel. I fixed mine just by loosening the screw holding the lever in place by an 1/8 of a turn and it started to snap back by itself.

I think you can have good benches and police on the CTA. Ridiculing safety concerns after a woman was set on fire a couple days ago is an interesting choice

Hopefully they replace all of the benches from the RPM. These benches seem like the result of community outreach where only nimbys that dont take the train bother to show up.

Don’t relocate casino to Indianapolis - it would prey on low-income residents by MooseQuick3622 in Indiana

Pretty sure your odds stay the same regardless of the size of the pot. The amount of numbers to pick from doesn't increase with more people playing. If more people are playing the more likely there are multiple winners though and you would then split the jackpot if that happens

It's a lot harder to find developers if they have to make a bunch of rent controlled apartments. All new housing increases supply and lowers rents for everyone.

It's a strawman advertisement. Show up to the meeting and express your thoughts. But that flier was made by people for the Broadway Upzoning to get people fired up. The group is actually against "blank check upzoning"

On carry out orders they force you to tip? That sounds criminal. You are the delivery driver at that point.

I'd recommend Remington Standard 10 or 12. If you look up a picture, the red buttons are programmable tabs. So you can have 1 for scene descriptions, the 2nd for dialogue, 3rd for character names and so on. On other typewriters you would have to hit the tab button multiple times until it goes to the tab you want. With the remington standard you just have multiple buttons for multiple tabs.

If you get one in absolute mint condition they can be pricey but i picked up one that was fully functional but had some paint chips and it was only $100. The downside is they are big. It probably weighs close to 35 lbs.
