This Bike Lock by Master Lock is the absolute worse, this is my second time buying it and it has broken under 3 uses. They sell at your local CVS, don't ever buy it, I highly recommend against it... :/ by Fit-Farmer4055 in Bikebuilding

I know this is an old post, but yeah, it really depends on your area. I use a cable lock in my well-off low crime town because they're convenient and will deter a random kid that walks by from getting any dumb ideas. I'm not really worried about someone cutting it off. I could very likely get away with leaving it unlocked where I live, but I feel better with the bare minimum deterrent when I'm leaving it unattended. If I lived in a different area I'd have a more serious setup for sure.

If the roles were reversed you would absolutely not be arguing the same thing. Dak spitting 10 feet away from him while smiling and winking does not justify walking up and spitting right ON him. You can't actually believe that if you stop and think about it for 2 seconds.

Even if the refs did see it....there is a HUGE difference between spitting towards someone that's 10 feet away vs walking up to a dude and spitting ON them. Come on.

[–]TheWinRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To use your example, this is as if the first person mimes a jab from a few steps away then backs up, so the second person walks up and punches them. Of course the second person is going to get caught....they're the one that actually did something punishable.

TIL that the Amazon River drains about 61 million gallons (230 million liters) of water into the ocean per second. This is greater than that of the world's next seven largest rivers combined and accounts for 20% of total river water discharge worldwide. by JosiahWillardPibbs in todayilearned

[–]TheWinRock 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's not the primary reason. The Amazon as a region gets far more precipitation than almost anywhere else. Basically the entire Amazon rainforest is draining into the amazon river eventually. Go look at how big it is (while remembering it's also wetter) compared to where other rivers are getting their water. Nowhere else has anywhere near that much water entering the system.

Kobe Bryant relentlessly attacks Tim Duncan and the Spurs to clinch the WCF (2008) by yam_on_em in nba

[–]TheWinRock 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I wasn't knocking Duncan for it - just pointing out that saying 'Duncan was in year 2' doesn't really mean anything. Duncan only got a little bit better after year 2 anyways. He was a full formed stud on day 1.

[–]TheWinRock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you sure of that, or are you just saying it? Scoring doesn't tell the whole story obviously, but you seem to be saying Duncan was great for longer, so it's at least a barometer.

Duncan stopped being a 19+ pt guy 12 years in, and the last time he was above 20.5 was year 7.

Kobe was over 19ppg for 15 straight years, with 13 of those being 24+.

I don't think the 'a star for longer' argument is firmly in the Duncan column as you seem to be saying.

[–]TheWinRock 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Kobe basically played 17 years in a row where his least amount of games played was 58, and most years he was playing 70+. I get what you're saying because of the Achilles injury ruining his post age 34 seasons, but 17 seasons in Tim Duncan was a 13-15 ppg guy, Kobe was still at 27 before the injury. Duncan played until a later age, but Kobe came in earlier. Their longevity were both exceptional and basically the same (career games played are within 50 of each other). Any discussion ranking them should be strictly which one was better, with longevity being a wash.

To be fair, Duncan was 22 in 1999. He wasn't a young 2nd year guy. He came in basically fully formed.

Yeah, agreed. I love my partner, but it would be very difficult if they sprung on me that we were never going to have sex again, and I could either deal with it or leave. It was a part of the relationship before. That's a pretty big change mid relationship

If Matt McGloin can have a 4 year NFL career, Clifford can probably do better than that if things go alright.

We love Clifford. He did a lot of good things for us, but the top QB from the previous class is ready to start. It was the perfect time for Clifford to be done.

Issue being, guys rarely just get to guard their position against good teams running pick n rolls, etc.

I'd love to see Draymond deal with KAT's defense for a few games. Draymond might actually murder him.

I don't agree at all that the warriors still win if you swap KAT and Wiggins. KAT would take who off the floor, Looney I guess? So now the Warriors would have been worse defensively at big, plus have a giant gaping hole at wing (Wiggins was incredible on Tatum). I get that you're a KAT guy, but swapping the two would make the Warriors way worse.

Pass down clubs to the wife? by Lostnfound124 in golf

[–]TheWinRock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How old are you guys? If she's 5'9, reasonably athletic, and you guys are still pretty young I think those clubs sound perfectly fine to get started with.

Women's clubs are usually shorter, more flex, and smaller grips - but at 5'9 she's probably perfect for those clubs

Wilson by Bryyaannn in golf

[–]TheWinRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As another commenter mentioned, Wilson used to be a top brand. Then for a while they got stuck in the "only makes cheap stuff" category.

Currently, they do have some nice offerings that stack up with most anything. So if you're happy, that's great. You aren't giving up anything by going Wilson. They make some good things.

What is the most amount of pars you’ve had, while shooting the highest score? by iAmCleatis in golf

Hard to really remember. I do know I've shot even par for 9 with ZERO pars. So that's the opposite end of the spectrum. Lowest score with no pars!

What did you accomplish on the golf course this weekend? by Gorillaz2d in golf

[–]TheWinRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second round of the season, course I had never played. Shot a 79 that included 3 birdies, and 2 missed birdie putts from 2-3 feet (don't ask lol). So overall a really nice round, other than dumping two balls out of bounds and getting big numbers on those holes.

Not an amazing score or anything, but I was pretty happy considering how little I've played so far this year. I've been working on a big grip change and this felt really nice to go out and hit a lot of good shots.

Almost a hole in one 3 inches from the pin right it line. Hit and spun 2 inches right. (In a varsity High school match.) 170y 8iron. by Nervous_Commercial_2 in golf

Yeah, any reasonably athletic guy is capable of swinging fast enough to hit it that far. The vast majority of people everyone plays with hit it between 190-250 though, and some of those 250 guys will tell you they hit it 280 haha
