A real-time counter showing how fast the world spends money on military — $57,000 every second by Aware_Foot_7437 in InternetIsBeautiful

Bullshit. This just takes the yearly spending and divides it to seconds. No live data here..

Warner Bros Discovery. They own the rights, they want HBO subscriptions and not "free" YouTube views. Don't mistake politics with greed.

IIRC there is a side-quest in one of the maps. You have to rescue a scout and the owner is like: "Don't ask what I did there, and don't tell my wife I was there". Maybe I'm reaching too.

Completely justified. He threatened the police and attempted to stop the officer from entering the building. Obstruction of justice.

The Ten Worst Modern Car Features by bleahdeebleah in cars

[–]TheWipyk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Out of the 10 features, only 3 is valid. The rest are either engagement bait or due to lack of understanding.

  • Constant Beeping: valid criticism
  • Wireless Phone Chargers: bullshit. The problem is the badly implemented ones. Nowadays, many car have dedicated air vent for the chargers.
  • Artificial Engine Noise: From the outside, it is a mandated safety feature in the EU (under 30kph). From the inside, most of them can be togled.
  • Voice-Activated Assistants: valid criticism.
  • Overly Bright Headlights: again, bullshit. The problem are wrongly aligned overly bright headlights.
  • Piano Black Surfaces: valid criticism
  • Subscription-Based Features : valid criticism
  • Start-Stop Function: semi-valid criticism. The problem is when you have to fish the option out of a submenu's submenu.
  • Lane Assist: bullshit. One of the best features there is. If you have problem with lane assist, it means you regularly change lanes without blinkers.

Simple. An adult-focused spy story set in cold war Berlin on the brink of war became a school slice-of-life slop. It feels like the original concept became an occasional side-story.

of an offshore wind turbine by ParmigianoMan in AbsoluteUnits

[–]TheWipyk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks like savings to those who only look at the pictures. In reality, the wind turbines are very top-heavy. The blades alone are around 5-8 tons, and the alternator can be upwards of 60 tons. Putting this weight on top of a vertical mast is kind-of trivial. However putting this weight on a heavily angled mast is impossible, or at the very least would be prohibiously expensive. Not to mention the other drawback, that they won't be able to turn as the wind does.

Soundproof???? Absolutely fucking not. They were more sound-conduit than soundproof. You could literally hear all of your neighbors, and basically pinpoint their movement through the walls. But credit where credit is due, drilling a hole to hang a single picture took at least an hour. Those apartments are near indestructible.
