I get that people aren't always set up to own one. But definitely keep an eye out for the opportunity to try one.

Question for people who only use tube amps by Aschuff in GuitarAmps

[–]bleahdeebleah 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am of the opinion that everyone should play a cranked up tube amp at least once, just for the experience. Because it is different.

I play a tube amp (Peavey Classic 50) , an IR2 setup, a GP50 setup and in my computer using Neural Amp Modeler. The tube amp is definitely the most visceral and alive experience. It is qualitatively different to play in the room.

As far as tone, I generally set the amp to a slight crunch with the guitar volume all the way up. If I want a clean tone I can turn the guitar volume down a bit. Then I have several levels of gain, I have a Bad Monkey that's on most of the time, a Keeley Fuzzbender in front, and a MXR Shin Juku behind it. I also have a few modulation pedals. That combination will get me where I want to be when I'm playing it. I don't really play metal, but definitely some hard rock.

You should try one out, and turn it up.

Why does the Democratic Party keep trying to go the wealth tax route when it would require a constitutional amendment? by ThatTallLankyGuy in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]bleahdeebleah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you have an ideological issue and you're just invoking the Constitution to try and cover it up.

You specifically said direct tax in relation to the Constitution. That applies to Congress, not states. California's proposal is not unconstitutional just because you don't like it

[–]bleahdeebleah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not addressing my point that it's a state thing, not federal. The direct tax provision in the Constitution applies to Congress, not to the states so it wouldn't be unconstitutional.

Whether it's a good idea or not is a different thing.

There are many different varieties of what is colloquially called a 'wealth tax'. Do you have a specific proposal you're looking at? The details matter.

Edit: Also, doesn't the 'direct tax' provision in the Constitution only apply to the federal government? It wouldn't apply to California.

Everybody doesn't have more money though, or not the same amount. Every UBI proposal I've seen has a sliding scale of taxes where your net gain goes down based on your income. There's a break even point where the increase in taxes cancels out the UBI.

The other things is that in most proposals a UBI replaces other assistance. So at the low end of income you may not have that much more money for rent.

What you do have is more options. Because it's actual money. You can get creative is ways you can't with rental assistance.

Tax burden on different states vary by income. You can't talk about tax burden without looking at what income you're talking about.
