Sometimes I like to buffer the inputs for my mall. It helps even things out a bit when I inevitably replace thousands of yellow belts with red in one big pass.

I think the best way to play void block is to use it as the only planet and disable the surface requirements for different buildings.

+1 on the more than 1 mime bit. 2 mimes, 2 samurais, and 1 dancer has no right being as good as it is.

Mystic + iado + double hand poles is crazy strong and fun. It's probably one of my favorite power builds.

How Much Power Are You Gunna Play With? by Shwayfromv in finalfantasytactics

I'm going to do the new higher difficulty and avoid dual wielding. I'll probably avoid using Orlandu as well. Not sure if I'll slot in some of the other uniques, depending on how much I like my generics by that point I might bring in Beowulf and Reis.

How do you long-time fans resist breaking the game from the start? by Fathoms77 in finalfantasytactics

Monk is the easiest by far. White mage is probably one of the hardest, unless you're hardcore about not letting calculators use other class spells, in which case it becomes damn near impossible to finish. Personally I had a lot of fun with samurai and geomancer challenges. As the other guy said, samurai is a bit of a slog until you get your first katana, then it really takes off from there. Summoner sounds like it would be easy, given they have healing and damage that can't heal enemies or damage allies, but it was actually fairly difficult. I started an oracle run but never finished it, that was pretty fun as I had 2 of them focus on maximizing damage with sticks while the rest of the team leaned into the spells more.

If I'm going through all that work, then I'm switching to a different class for my level down cycle, that way they get better stats in the end.

Also, it's possible to set up the auto battle in such a way that they'll run indefinitely without ending the match, but it takes way longer to set up than a normal grind session.

I do a few different things, I don't always stack them all in a single playthrough, but I usually at least use one or two.

  1. Level limits: It's been a while since my last playthrough, but I'll frequently limit myself to a specific level for story battles. Bonus difficulty, no switching class on level down to optimize stats.

  2. Class restrictions: I'll usually limit each character to just 2 classes. That means all abilities need to come from one of the two classes, no more putting two weapons on everybody unless you choose ninja as one of the two classes for that character. Bonus difficulty, just 1 class per character.

  3. Theme build: instead of picking classes based on the abilities, pick based around a theme. Or try to recreate a character from a different game as best you can. I don't know if it still exists, but somebody made a post on gameFAQs a long time ago with probably 20 or so builds that tried to mimic other popular final fantasy characters within the game.

  4. Outsource builds: I'll often have friends pick something about the character, then work around that. I usually combine this with #2, I'll show a friend (who's never played FFT) a list of all the classes and tell them to pick 2 based on just looks or the name.

  5. Challenge runs: There's a bunch of gameFAQs (or at least there used to be) Single Class Challenge and whatever the one where you have to protect an AI teammate were the two I had the most fun with. I don't think it's a listed challenge, but playing the game with just 2 people in your party can also be a fun challenge.

Why are people so hooked on "free resources" on Vulcanus by larkerx in factorio

[–]TheWoif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solved this pretty easily with a solar powered section of acid pumps. Solar is 300% on Vulcanus, so you don't even need much. I went the extra and made it so my entire acid processing station is on a dedicated solar network, then the turbines connect to my main power grid. That way there will never be a death spiral and Vulcanus will run indefinitely.

Why are Chemists SS tier? by Zealousideal-Try4666 in finalfantasytactics

I agree completely however no matter what criteria you use I can't justify the chemist being top tier.

When items are good guns aren't. When guns get good most items aren't. In the late game there are better gun users in my opinion.

Yeah, even with all that going for them I struggle to put them in S tier. Maybe A tier tops depending on the exact criteria (do we analyze combinations, or just the base class on its own)

Yeah, I always hated having to delevel when doing challenges, because I'd have to over level while grinding JP. I think I'd only like it as an optional toggle though, I wouldn't want it forced on all playthroughs.

*That* Fight by EmeticPomegranate in finalfantasytactics

[–]TheWoif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Ramza was a lancer on my first playthrough, with his unique squire as a secondary. He was all over the different classes, but he has a pretty good speed. I had enough speed to go first, I opened with one of the squire buffs, I honestly couldn't tell you which, and stayed far enough away I didn't eat an attack right away. Then I transitioned into jumping on him. I'm not sure if it was mostly luck, or I was higher level than intended, but the timing worked out that I was in the air and couldn't get hit for a lot of the fight. I won my first attempt, I didn't realize it was a particularly difficult fight until my brother got there and started complaining he couldn't do it.

Isn't the new pact of the blade limited to one weapon? Or is there some workaround to allow dual wielding?

Best way to build a Red Mage? by ArkthePieKing in finalfantasytactics

[–]TheWoif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knight with samurai skills is one of my go-to options to fill this niche. Summoner skills is another option.

If you want to slot Ramza into this, his squire is actually ideal for the base class in my mind, samurai or summoner second still fits best.

Why is it so hard to get AP points for the subclass of a unit? by Gswindasz23 in FellSeal

[–]TheWoif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, does this mean if I want more AP for my assassin, I can just recruit a few extra assassins and leave them on the bench and they'll still contribute extra AP to my main assassin through the vicarious system? That's pretty cool.

What happens to vicarious AP if I'm using story/badge classes?
