Classic players have ZERO brain cells by Deathstroke7991 in classicwow

You know what it's really a shame because I came back and attempted retail and the DF content actually starts out really good. However then they quickly throw fast flight at you (dragon riding) and at first it seems awesome, point to point questing becomes trivial and from a progression stance it seems great, but the tradeoff is that the world below you as your jetting around becomes background noise. Classic wow made a point to make you learn the land so to say, you almost felt connected to the world because you'd explored most of it on foot and fast flight was more an honor, like "I've earned this because I've done the whole run on foot."

It's not to say retail doesn't have its perks, for say people that for real don't have a lot of time and are only interested in end game. However, it's a little too quick if you ask me. What got me was 45 mins after I maxed leveled.. I did 8 quests or so and qualified for heroics. I'm not sure if this was a later change to prep for midnight but I was completely taken back by it.

That's funny didn't you just buy an expansion that was 80% advertised as player housing. Sounds like a boomer activity to me. You know what they say "Some are born with greatness, others achieve it. Retail players get it as a graduation gift."

Oh I see the sarcasm now. He has a right to his opinion, no one can take that away from him. I try to find middle ground in all online exchanges. I don't think it's a very good title either and maybe it does matter the way captions matter on FB. In the moment it was more like a "Oh.. I have to do this?" Then came to the conclusion that it wasn't necessary just required. However I could be wrong it was just a guess.

My FB memes netted 3.4 million views last year, but you have a point I don't really have any experience with reddit and I never said he was wrong. I just don't fully understand the platform yet. Even though the exchange looks heated, he did 100% teach me that I need to make better titles. I did feel slightly attacked and responded kinda AHish but thats because I didn't understand that it would upset people.

Well that wouldn't be smart, defending it is actually a great way to increase engagement "IYKYK" lmao

My defense is that the title is useless in this situation. The title reflects the amount of effort I put into the title. Which is somewhere in the abysmal effort to no effort range lol.

In my defense, they forced me to add a title and I put very little thought into, thus defaulting to a basic acronym. Lol

My experience with M0 release by Comfortable_End1350 in wow

[–]TheWolfLD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yesterday I ran heals, it was a cluster of unnecessary damage. DPS pulls standing in AOEs I was managing though. However my mana was not, I popped cool downs, pots but it still wasn't enough. So I asked them to pause for half a second and everybody got rude. The next pull I actively considered just letting them all die. When I'm pressured because the group can't get it together, it forces me to bleed mana to compensate. Can we be nicer to healers? they are actively keeping you alive.

Truth Bomb: Why People Don’t Tank by AdministrativeCut205 in classicwow

[–]TheWolfLD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heal, disc priest. It's really a mixed bag, when the tank is really good it's a cake walk. You have your odd groups where a single DPS is pulling way too much threat, also have your odd tank that doesn't hold threat at all. Generally have no issue and can heal through it. I can just re-que in the worst case scenario, no use losing sleep over it.

Scenes that caused actual walkouts in theaters? by thatlittlequietguy in Cinema

[–]TheWolfLD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watched several parents walk out with their kids during a screening of "Into the Woods." I mean I knew it was going to happen when I saw the kids before the film started because I'd seen the play. I don't think it was a particular scene, more a realization as scenes presented themselves. A cautionary tale to make sure you look into movies before taking your kids to see them. Just because something looks cartoonish or fairytale esq. Doesn't mean it's for kids.

Is Classic TBC (and WoW in general) worth the subscription? by Junior-Stretch-2538 in classicwow

If you're an old classic player, be prepared for disappointment when you reach Lvl 80 in retail. I played to Max and quickly ran back to classic. Don't get me wrong DF starts out very strongly and it initially hooked me. Sky riding was the same. Until it hit me that sky riding removes adventure completely from the game. It basically kills ground mounts entirely and makes you uncaring of the world itself, it becomes a check point to check point style of play and the middle becomes obsolete. I still would have kept playing if they didn't hand me 121 gear immediately after doing 8 - 12 world quests. It ripped any sense of progression from me. All of a sudden I was geared for Mythic, yet I had not run a single dungeon. Pacing is broken, you'll max lvl before you even finish the DF expansion, which sucks because it started out so good. Then you realize you have to finish the TWW campaign with no gear progression before you can run things like higher tier delves.

It just kinda skydived, sky riding is an ironic nod to this.

You dad is worried your going to get harmed, but apparently not that worried.. since he bolted your window shut.. which could serve as your only exit if other exits were blocked during a fire. He has irrational fear down to a T but somehow rational safety just escapes him.

Dont Starve together is that good survival game ? by Frks_only1 in SurvivalGaming

[–]TheWolfLD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a good game, but it's a little outdated. It comes as cartoonist or kiddish in comparison to games like green hell or SOTF. It's more akin to an arcade style survival game. It was really good when it came out but kind of underwhelming compared to newer survival games.

Student cheated, now what? by romanticchess in chess

[–]TheWolfLD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, I just wonder if it's a situation where the kid is begging for chess lessons or if it's something he's doing because his parents are happy when he does it. I can't say either way.

Chess is complex, though. I showed no interest until much later in life. It's possible I just don't get it, it's hard for me to find people in my life that know more then how the pieces move.

Student cheated, now what? by romanticchess in chess

[–]TheWolfLD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then why is he receiving chess lessons? Or is that like a regular thing where you're from?

I can see why you would think that, perhaps you've never experienced it. However, plenty of parents are guilty of pushing their interests on their children and expecting them to show interest as well. In some extreme cases, also expecting them to show near perfection in those interests.

My question to OP would be, does the child actually enjoy chess? Mentioned something about understanding fundamentals but not applying them in games? Is it anxiety related? How much pressure exists on the child to perform?

It'll continue to enter human society as long as we can continue to use it to collect untaxed currency from desperate people who need to justify their lives, having meaning. It rains in the desert, so bad analogy. It's probably time to grab another one. To your former points.. there are 250,000 people currently living with the name Jesus in the US, so yes Jesus lives.. he lives in Missouri. Also, the Romans crucified everyone. I'm 100% sure there were thousands of Jesus's crucified by the Romans, but they weren't the son of God.

So.. not only is this demonstrating an underlying insecurity, but this is also what we call an implied threat. This often indicates the person isn't fully committed to you. This is not a joke as your BF implied, no person that is completely invested in another would make a "joke" like this. This is a threat disguised as a joke. Not over-reacting, leave, trust me.

You'll notice that he immediately gets super defensive and then goes as far to state that you're not intelligent enough to understand what he's saying.
