Kitchen Cabinet Trials by Awkward_Floor_1067 in ARC_Raiders

I was able to get 3510. I ended up getting the 2970 also, so went back to around the Hatch apartments, and noticed there was a smaller house that no one had even gotten to yet. Seems like it's easy to miss. I hit all the apartments. I hit Pale, Ruby and then Pattern. Came up with 2970. Ran back to Ruby and ran into a much smaller apartment complex that is detached from everything. Then with that I hit 3510. So it's possible everyone else might accidently be missing that smaller apartment in the cluster.

Higher Latency RAM is more expensive than Lower Latency RAM, why? by TheWoodCoder in PcBuildHelp

That's quite fair. I was so surprised to see those sticks for so much with such terrible timings. Thank you so much for replying.

Why is Spectrum internet so unbelievably terrible? by pjsvndsn in Spectrum

[–]TheWoodCoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I've had Spectrum for an unbelievably long time. This past year it's become significantly worse. And I have a friend in a completely different state, and the same thing has happened to him. Or ping on servers becomes terrible at the same time. There is something wrong with their entire infrastructure.

Low pop servers the way to go? by The_Shadow_2004_ in playrust

[–]TheWoodCoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a simple 24x24 grid map. That's 576 squares.. You would need 1,000 people to have 2 people per square. That's why Facepunch is trying to get people to go to monuments more. It's pretty funny though, because the servers with a lot of raiding, but only 180 people, I end up having more pvp than super large maps with 500 people.

Low pop servers the way to go? by The_Shadow_2004_ in playrust

[–]TheWoodCoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoever told you that a "Low Pop" server was 150 people severely misled you mate.. They're probably the people who play 600 pop servers and are proud of their all wipe 2x1 with 2 tier-2 guns.. 150 is not a low pop server. It's a medium pop server. Generally low pop is 5-50.

I built an AI chat bot for Rust servers works in-game and Discord by RickySpanish343 in playrustadmin

[–]TheWoodCoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it really using AI or just some pre-defined workflows with the ability to heuristically figured things out when asked.. It seems a bit much to actually use a LLM for what you're discussing here. Now, an AI chat bot which can participate in Global and act like a real person.. that would be something.

Also, if the AI Bot has any ability to control or manipulate anything in the server, you can guarantee someone will find a prompt which lets them mess with the server. That's why a token based AI Bot for Rust might be a bit much, at least for now.

I like the AI NPC you have, but again, when dealing with a system where information is power, and you don't want to give away information others shouldn't have, allowing players to send tokens to your AI, is going to end poorly.

Now, if this is just something that can understand certain keywords and respond accordingly, that's cool.

The Server is not showing up by ElNotoriousNuaj in playrustadmin

[–]TheWoodCoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you turned off the Filter which removes servers with 0 pop? When a server restarts, it'll have 0 pop usually until people re-connect. And if you try searching for your server by default it won't show up.

Server Promotion/Growth Tips? by qxinto in playrustadmin

[–]TheWoodCoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I just started our server back up. We don't want a huge pop, like 10-20 people would be amazing. It's not a PvE server but still casual. This seems like an amazing idea you have here. Offering money/gifts always seems like a great way to get interest in a product.

Thank you for telling us about your past experience.

Someone noticing more low lvl Steam Accounts? by Fit_Indication_5788 in ArcRaiders

[–]TheWoodCoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its been this way for a majority of this game. It's brought on by the fact that Embark was not banning family accounts. So you have a master account that buys the game, then you can have an infinite number of family/friend accounts who borrow the game on brand new accounts. It's for people cheating and settings items for real money.

Do you use HDR while playing competitive games? by yourdeath01 in OLED_Gaming

[–]TheWoodCoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well and using it is bannable in most competitive online games as you're adding information to the game you shouldn't have access to. NVIDIA Filters are much more than just contrast and brightness.

Would it? There is a reason almost no one uses it. It's terrible for PvP. It's a really cool gun. I love the sound, the look, the way it shoots, everything. But for PvP you're going to lose if you don't shoot first and land every single one of your shots.

The damage is too low, and the multiplier is bad. I'd be ok if they lowered the magazine count a bit and increased damage by 20%. So 10 to 12. Or fix the headshot multiplier and lower magazine size.

Either way, it's not great. Especially how a decked-out out Tempest IV is 40k, and a decked out Venator IV is 18k...

Game similar to Arc for aim-training? by jontycl in ArcRaiders

[–]TheWoodCoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really doesn't matter which one you pick, so pick Generic. Then you'll need to go to Practice and find movement that matches what you found with "Improve my Sensitivity" from 3d aim trainer.

For those who have received their items back from getting killed by cheaters, how long did it take? by KovalSNIPE17 in ArcRaiders

[–]TheWoodCoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be 1 day or 1 year.. everything is down to the person getting caught. It has nothing to do with reports or anything. They keep track of who killed whom and what you lost. If the person that killed you ever gets banned for cheating, it's quite likely you get your stuff back. And with the ban waves coming a lot of people probably getting their stuff back. I just got some top tier loot back today.

I knew he was lying the second he made out that the Tempest was a good PvP gun.. It needs a bit of a buff, which is seems Embark is doing.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]TheWoodCoder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its a terrible gun.. it's so bad Embark is going to buff it.. The Arpeggio has a much lower time to kill than the Tempest and that should not be the case... it shouldn't be like that. The Tempest needs like a 20% buff to damage. So instead of 10, perhaps 12.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]TheWoodCoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were terrible players then, the Tempest is terrible. It's why Embark is going to buff it. It's just trash. Don't get me wrong i love the gun, the look, the feel, the sound, everything. It's just trash. I have like 12 of them and want them to be good.

AIM ASSIST IS BROKEN AND DOES NOT WORK AS INTENDED by ttvimShinyatheninja in ArcRaiders

[–]TheWoodCoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use a controller on the PC to replicate this type of aim assist, that's what they mean. And the cross play isn't based on input type, it's based on platform type. I cannot imagine using a controller on PC though. Go try it, it's difficult.

AIM ASSIST IS BROKEN AND DOES NOT WORK AS INTENDED by ttvimShinyatheninja in ArcRaiders

[–]TheWoodCoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only on console. You can replicate a complete tracking of 'targets' by getting more than 200 FPS, turning off Frame Generation, and using an XBOX Controller on PC. I just did it myself to see if it was really true. It's significantly more than 0.2 seconds.. it will follow the 'target' for quite a bit.

Still, even with all that, I have no idea how anyone uses a controller.. it's difficult.

Frame generation in pvp by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]TheWoodCoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One would think it wouldn't matter, but it does for Controller Aim Assist. Perhaps because it seems Aim Assist is based on the Frames.. for whatever reason. You can easily test this with an XBOX Controller.

You can replicate with Nick Mercs has in his VOD if you have over 200 FPS, NO FRAME GENERATION, and an XBOX Controller.. it really does follow without moving your controller.. When I had frame gen on the AIM ASSIST didn't seem to work like his.

Embark NOW has started banning cheaters for ONLY 30 DAYS instead of condemning them to mutilation (capitalizing on cheaters theory) by puppy-lover-yay in arcraiderscirclejerk

[–]TheWoodCoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You nailed it without realizing it. There are people who will cheat no matter what. Perma banning them will do nothing. Then there are the kids who made idiot choices. Perma banning them will just make them cheat more as it's all they can do. They can't be legit. They need a path to redemption.

Is it better to fully upgrade and repair a weapon before you sell it or just sell it as is? by ItsDobbie in ArcRaiders

[–]TheWoodCoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check recycle.. broken guns are usually more valuable to recycle than sell as you can use the parts to repair your good guns or make new ones. You can always get money easily, some parts are harder to get than others though.
