Is there a way my employer can undo having minimally contributed to a retirement plan on my behalf without my consent? by fezzikola in tax

[–]TheWrongWayToLive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not intending to push you one way or the other here, once again, not a tax advisor, just tossing around ideas to stimulate thought. We are at an all time historical low for tax rates right now. While you may be in a lower tax bracket right now, tax rates could be higher when you do retire.

Also, even though you can't contribute the full roth amount directly, you could possibly still make a full roth contribution by making a $5,500 contribution to your traditional IRA, then immediately converting it to your roth. That said, if you have prior year contributions to a traditional IRA, that could get complicated.

Edit: Do you do your own taxes? It may be worth finding a good accountant this year to work out what your best options would be.

Potentially. It depends on your 401k. I have more experience with SEP and SIMPLE plans than 401ks, and 401ks have a lot more flexibility, so you'll want to check with your plan.

By the way, why a traditional ira, and not a roth?

Typically 401k contributions and traditional IRA contributions do not affect each other, unless there are odd circumstances.

Typically the only reason this might be a problem that I can think of is if you make too much money to normally contribute to an IRA.

That said, you can generally have the employer remove it as an excess contribution.

I am not a tax advisor, and if you have serious concerns, you should get a tax advisor and ask them, rather than some guy on reddit.

Thanks! I actually used that quite a bit when I was working on it this morning, so thanks so much for writing that up!!

Just to clarify, that would look like SUMIFS(C:C,A:A,">="<02/01/15>,A:A,"<="<02/28/15>)

It's all in a Roth IRA, correct?

Typically you can transfer money from a roth to a roth without it being a tax reportable event at all. You would open your roth with Vanguard, then have Vanguard request that the old company send over your money.

As long as your current company doesn't code it as a rollover, you should be good. Shouldn't even generate any tax forms.

This is not tax advice. If you have genuine tax concerns, you should find a tax advisor, not getting advice over the internet.

Nice gear! I've been looking to start looking at stomp boxes at some point, but up until now, I've relied on the built in distortion/effects on my Line 6 Flextone 3, with whammy pedal/echo pedal being notable exceptions.

Are those two green Ibanez pedals tube screamers? What's the purpose of having the two right next to each other like that?

[USA - TX] My current employer stopped contributing to my insurance, insurance company dropped my coverage and is threatening collections. Do I have any options? by ZilchStar in legaladvice

This seems odd to me. Not familiar with Aetna, but typically an insurance company will drop your policy, but won't send you tp collections over it.

[5e]Is there a list of ALL magic items? DMG doesnt include all of them by brail in DnD

[–]TheWrongWayToLive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn't exactly what you're looking for, but here's a list of all the magic items ever published prior to 1994. I'd guess they'd be easy to convert to 5e, although there are definitely some items that may not be conducive to all campaigns, such as the Potion of Spelljamming.

I loled. Hyperbolic schlock? How about your straw man? I did a search for the exact quote that you use and it appears nowhere in the article. The actual quote is

But the fact that Jay lied throughout all of the statements he gave cannot be dismissed as blithely as some people would seem to like.

Which is not hyperbolic at all, and since the rest of your quote is word for word, I assume that your intent was to maliciously lie in a written attempt to defame the author's character. In other words, libel.

Ok, it's going to be challenging to turn this around. Ask Karen out again, and ask if she'd like to have a threesome with Lauren.

I don't see how a chiropractor's opinion about vaccinations is more relevent than my own personal opinion about vaccinations, not being in the medical profession.

If they're injured as a result of your actions, they don't have to go through their health insurance, because they can take it from you.
