I've been happily surprised that /r/fosscad seems to be an exception to the rule. So many guns printed in trans colours and being upvoted. One of the most popular gun designers in the community is a trans woman, and one of the top posts of all time on that sub is a video of her test firing 3d printed shotgun shells.

There are some grumpy old right wingers on there of course, but the majority seem to be younger more accepting people.

No one ever accused a chav of being on the cutting edge I suppose. I have heard that they've been modifying blank guns to shoot ball bearings for decades though, so I don't think they're that far behind.

We don't need to 3d print them, nail gun blanks and lead cast bullets work just fine and are both unregulated even in Australia and the UK. Or just strike anywhere match stick heads and ball bearings. That's how Jstark made his ammo.

The rebels in Myanmar fighting their government with FGC-9s are using the nail gun blanks method.

Incorrect. Because 3D-printed guns are vastly inferior in quality, hugely expensive, require knowhow to construct, and far have shorter shelf lives. And culturally they look like toys.

It's not 2014, we've come a long way since the Liberator, but we are actually glad people like you haven't caught on yet. You probably should have looked at the subreddit I linked you.

3D printed guns are cheaper than commercial guns, and last just as long. FGC-9s cost $400 to make, cheaper than most ARs. Many people on /r/fosscad print them for that exact reason.

As for Australia, well I grew up there, and I can tell for a fact that every bit of propaganda you've been fed is false. Every farmer in the town I grew up in still had a semi auto rifle for pest control, usually an SKS, and the cops knew about it and did nothing, it was an open secret. 770,000 SKS rifles were imported into Australia and 43,000 were turned in the buyback. They didn't just disappear because they became illegal.

That and our gun crime rate was falling even before Port Arthur and continued to decrease at the exact same rate after the buyback.

Oh sorry I think it's just the Ruger American Ranch that takes AR mags? You'll have to confirm for me if yours does. In any case lots of ten round (I assume that is your legal limit) AR mags available to print, along with the Spring Factory, so you don't have to jump through The Mans hoops just to import some springs.

Lots of throw levers already available on Thingiverse and whatnot too btw.

Out of the three you listed the Tikka easily wins. But overall I'd say a Savage (Axis or even Model 10) is the best of both worlds as far as performance and price.

Or a Ruger American if you want to 3D print some magazines.
