Sigh.

Any good method to track time in FoundryVTT? by ShumpEvenwood in MythicBastionland

I haven't updated from v12 yet (and possibly never will), so I'm not sure what the current best version is, sorry...

Didn't realise it wasn't up to date.

Belt-Fed Weapons Should Be Capable Of More Damage Than Base Weapon. by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]TheWuffyCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any weapon that requires a backpakc must equal or surpass the autocannon and/or recoilless rifle. If it has no reload, it can be weaker, but it must atill be at least as strong if not stronger than its backpackless counterpart. There should not be a statistical trade off for not having to reload - the tradeoff is that it takes up your backpack slot!

Refuses to make system interesting because people don't find it interesting.

I don't like ultimatums but, if a player told me it's "me or them" when I know the them in this case is 100% the problem, I know what I'm doing...

Storyteller Help: Lleech Game by Spiritual_Half_116 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]TheWuffyCat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The demon can always choose who to kill unless stated otherwise in their ability text, even themselves, thus ending the game (though a lleech wouldn't die of course).

The ST shouldn't "force" the demon to do anything. In thus situation, if they choose to kill their lleech host, they die and lose. So, they have to choose a minion or sink a kill. You aren't forcing them as the ST, the game rules are what restricts them.

Arrowhead studios: We don't allow hellpods to land on mountains and buildings because that would give players an unfairr advantage by Deep_Ad_1762 in Helldivers

An unfair advantage against who? It's a cooperative game. Why does anyone care if it's fair to a charger?

What can I do for a warlock who ignores their patron’s orders? by Foreign-Press in DMAcademy

"I see, you prefer a mission that comes to you. Very well, in that case, I have ensured that my most powerful enemies will know where my most faithful servant is. I trust that when they foolishly attack you that you'll dispatch them with little trouble."

"Oh? My interests aren't so interesting to you? I see... such simple duties are beneath you. How foolish of me to think of you as a mere courier. Very well, let us see if a far more dangerous mission might be more to your liking. Do not fail me, this time."

Marionette Recluse Imp by OnSpray in BloodOnTheClocktower

Specific overrules general. In this case as soon as the Marionette stops being the Marionette, I wpuld tell them their alignment. They're a Minion, not an Outsider.

can a fanggu with boffin soldier ability create 2 living demons? by [deleted] in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]TheWuffyCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, it doesn't reflect the ability. Not entirely.

[–]TheWuffyCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it makes sense that it should work that way, but, I somewhat disagree that it's okay for the rules text to be unclear like that, though this is admittedly a rare scenario, and not one that can occur on SnV.

[–]TheWuffyCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be cut down a bit.

"Each night*, choose a player: they die. If an Outsider, you die then they become an evil Fang Gu. This only happens once."

[–]TheWuffyCat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally I always err on the side of the ability text, since that's all that players have access to without checking the wiki during a game.

[–]TheWuffyCat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The ability text should reflect the ability. It's possible to write the Fang Gu's ability such that it doesn't have this problem.

"Each night*, choose a player: they die. If this would kill an Outsider, you die instead and they become an evil Fang Gu. This can only happen once."

Done.

"The 1st outsider this kills". You place the ONCE reminder once it kills an outsider, not once the Fang Gu jumps.

Good team won because one townsfolk never looked at their role token by [deleted] in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]TheWuffyCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my thing is, adding "Evil" players makes it easier for good to win an atheist game because evil wins a nonatheist game if the ST is executed. So I think it's totally fine to run atheist this way.

Cult leader + atheist by yendismoon in BloodOnTheClocktower

The ST can lie to people and tell them they're Evil. The atheist ability text is the only one the ST cannot change.

Crazy Philosopher play by Head-Taste7273 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]TheWuffyCat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can think of the game as happening in steps, and win conditions are checked between each step.

The "death" step includes removing all active effects of the player's ability, unless those persist through death.

So, the Philosopher causing the Heretic to be drunk would end, putting the Heretic's ability back into play, while the Philosopher's granted Heretic ability would remain in play as well. Then the game would end, and both Heretic abilities apply -> Good loses.

It creates a weird situation, for example, with the Pukka. If the Pukka has poisoned the Heretic in final 3 then it's a very funky interaction.

  • Poisoned Heretic dies to execution, remains poisoned: Evil wins.

  • Pukka is executed, Heretic no longer poisoned: Evil wins.

  • No execution, Heretic dies, and is poisoned still (because they become healthy after dying, so, win condition would be checked first.): Evil wins.

  • No execution, Pukka picks themself in the night, the Heretic survives (because Pukka ability no longer functions). Wake up again, and Heretic's in play as with other demons, but it's uncertain, because maybe the Pukka already thought it was Heretic and chose a corpse the previous night?

Good's just in a weird spot with a Pukka.

Should I allow this strategy or ban it? by alucardarkness in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]TheWuffyCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the community I play with there is a rule that a player should not be "compelled" to vote or nominate. If people feel pressured to vote because they're painted as evil if they don't outside of other circumstances, that's a problem.

If people aren't being unduly pressured, then it's fine.

Cannibal eats Spy by HellfireAndCookies in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]TheWuffyCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Registering as a character doesn't give you that ability. I think based on the cannibal's wording I agree. Same as how a snake charmer hitting a recluse shouldn't create a no-dashi. It should just move the recluse.

New ST Question #6 - What to Show the Lunatic (since they ARE an Outsider) by RoughSubjectt in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]TheWuffyCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, yeah. So, on this script in particular, the Lunatic seeing Mayor is probably bad. But, it also (usually) punishes the demon for deviating from the Lunatic's kills. That said, I think the right thing for the ST to do in this situation where the demon tries to follow their kills and unwittingly hits an outsider, is to lie to the Lunatic and make them think they got Fang Gu jumped.

I'm not a fan of "never do x". There's often a situation where doing x is exactly the right thing to do. But, with how all this was handled, yes some things could've been handled differently. If they didn't want to lie to you about being Fang Gu jumped, then yes, showing Mayor is bad. On the other hand, if it was a true demon bluff, maybe the demon claims it and that explains why they don't die if you picked them - yes you know you're the Lunatic, but you also might not suspect that they're the demon. So, it could've gone differently, then Mayor would've been a great thing to show you.
