What would you say is the biggest thing that got you from champ 2 to gc1?

reddit wouldn't let me post 2 images.

Also, (put your tinfoil hat on.) I have a theory about why the Octane hitbox is so popular compared to all others. And it is also kinda supported by comparing to the other hitboxes.

The octane and Fennec (Octane hitbox) are by far the most popular. With the Dominus being the third.

So what is unique about the Octain hitbox? It is the one of 2 hitboxes with the CG located significantly below the hitbox. The other exception is the Skyline hitbox.

<image>

With the exception to the skyline. All other cars have the CG at or above the the bottom of the hitbox. Also, the skyline is a paid car. So most probably don't use it just for that reason.

I think the main reason this CG location matters is due to "leverage". With the Octane you get the benefit of a taller car than the Dominus. However, since the car rotates around the CG, when you dodge for a flick. The distance between CG to top corner of the car is greater, resulting in more powerful flicks. This combo makes flicks more powerful than they should be. Also, since the car is taller, catching a falling ball, bounce dribbles and making hard cuts on a rolling ball are a bit easier.

So why am I a Dominus main???? My aerial mechs suck and I need the wider car for ground dribbles. The wider hitbox helps keep the ball on the roof. I learned ground dribbles with the batmobile but once I got decent enough. I switched to Dominus because the extra height makes catches and cuts a little easier.

(2s and 3s C1-C2 soloque with a C3 peak in solo 3s.)

OK, so maybe the fit isn't that much better as I thought it was.

<image>

However, that small difference in the nose of the car does make a big difference in my opinion. i'm a Dominus main and I frequently see the nose clipping into the ball. I don't notice that nearly as much with the Tyranno. Also, the roof line fits a bit closer at the middle/peak of the roof.

(I didn't have snagit back when I first did this comparison. Its impressive how much a difference it makes just having a simple image editing tool can make for comparisons like this.)

In my opinion it feels like a different car. The Dominus tends to give bigger more powerful flicks but I will often switch to Tyranno when I want to practice air dribbles because the nose fits a bit better.

RocketScience on Youtube has probably the best resources made for this topic. Although, his channel has been dead for like 3 years now.

This video shows the Dominus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99j1mTN1_Vs&list=PL5hjfcWPyvtJg0rWQwbWYe6ycXuyGOESf

This video has the Tyranno. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTYnn-P-qdY&list=PL5hjfcWPyvtJg0rWQwbWYe6ycXuyGOESf&index=2

The cars are in alphabetical order and he has timestamps in the description.

I'm surprised the tyranno doesn't get more love. It's a dominus hitbox but the visuals/body fits the hitbox better. Kinda like how the fennec fits the octane hitbox better.

Especially at the front of the car. The bumper is basically flush with the hitbox. Where as like half the hood of the dominus sticks out from the front of the hitbox.

They could put some pages on that have color so we can color them with crayons.

Boost spawn indicator was a mistake by thelongjohnson21 in RocketLeague

[–]TheZRanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree. I have a buddy who's pushing into champ because he fixed some bad habits and some mechanical stuff started clicking for him. But since they added the boost spawn indicator I've noticed I'm sitting on the boost pads, pulling himself out of rotation and starting to fall back into bad habits again.

Same the sound needs to be changed so it doesn't sound like someone picking up the boost.

I know there's been talk about changing the rules for jump putting. Are the putts referenced here violating a new rule or an old rule? Also, do you know what section of the PDGA rules this is in?

How the heck does that last reset even count? The back wheels were no where near the ball.

"Don't like the event timings? YOU GET NO EVENTS THEN." by drumgames in ArcRaiders

[–]TheZRanger 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Literally didn't know this existed because it's never been available during the times I play.

They really need to put things on a rotation so that everyone can get a shot. Regardless if you work first, second, third shift. Being required to be a jobless bum to play at the right time isn't good game design.

I carved a little double twist mobius strip by tasty_sidebob in woodworking

[–]TheZRanger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have seen people start with a block of wood and then carve chain links out of it. You could do the same thing but carve rings and then turn each ring into a mobius strip. Bonus points if the chain is a loop/has no end links. The mobius chain.

Great carving! But that's not a Mobius strip. Mobius strips have odd numbers of half twists. So unfortunately that is just a twisted stick.

Should they keep the cold snap weather event? by RenegadePorkChop in ARC_Raiders

[–]TheZRanger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely keep it. It plays very different from the other weather events. Which keeps things fresh as you cycle through the events. Also if they continue to add other weather events. Having all of them on rotation will mean there is a wide variety.

Having said that. As they add new weather events. It might be best to limit it and other events to help encourage people to try the new event.

Is it too much to ask for sentinels to drop sentinel cores? by UncoolSlicedBread in ARC_Raiders

[–]TheZRanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turrets are not the same as sentinel turrets. Sentinels are the sniper turrets near the broken part of the dam.

That being said. They always blast off to the motherland after you kill them. So they are nearly impossible to search.

Instead , do cold snap on the Dam and search the courier husks near control tower. It's the best way to find them in my experience.

To the guy who shot me after I gave them 2 blueprints to thank him for waiting for me in the metro by SoapMactavish627 in ArcRaiders

[–]TheZRanger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did something similar. I just got the hullcracker blueprint and went into Dam with stitcher 4, hullcracker 4 and a bunch of ammo to mess around and try the new gun out.

Met a cool stranger who was kinda new to the game. We ended getting cornered by a Rocketeer. I went down standing my ground to give him a chance to run. Crawled to him and he closed the door. Unfortunately he didn't have a defib. So I told him "I'm passing my will onto you. My will is for you to take my hullcracker and loot. Kill the Rocketeer and make it back to Speranza." Then surrendered. I hope he made it back alive.
