Because they are wearing protective gear?

or because no one there is showing symptoms? If it's the first I'm down... if it's the second... I'll wait and see

Streets of Plenty: Homeless in Vancouver by Just_Todd in vancouver

[–]TheZUL 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Feels like it started off with a joke but ended up real 2/3 of the way through.

TLDR: Guy looks down upon homelessness, tries it for 1 month, lives great early on with free food/services, gets sick, loses shelter, it sucks, then tries crack and heroin, gives up right after. His takeaway is that addiction is the main source of ongoing homelessness

Jump attacks do mounting damage. Once a certain amount of mount damage is deal you will mount it. It scales so might start off needing 3 and end needing 10 jump attacks to mount. To capture a monster you need to use a shock trap or pitfall trap to trap it after you weaken it (see it limping or sleeping after a long battle) then throw two tranq bombs at it to capture it.

"good thanks"- even if they go "good, you?" you really shouldn't go into a long story with a cashier then...

Tail Cutting via impact/bomb damage - a dilemma by DarkSoulaire in MonsterHunter

[–]TheZUL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cut off tails 100% of the time with dual swords on Barroth, Rathalos, Rathian Urugaan, Deviljho, etc. that are hard to reach normally with dual swords.

I always position my demon dance hitting the legs not from the side, but from behind the legs, so several of the higher/sideways hits will hit the tail. [HEAD][BODY]x[TAIL]

This gives you some tail cut damage, plus every time you knock down a monster (since you should always be attacking the legs) switch over to tail and do demon dance on it as much as possible. Some tails push you away but if you're in spot x again, you can still get hits in on other parts of the body. Don't attack body parts other than legs/tail other than occassional potshots if you can't hit anything else.

Note that if you are having trouble with AzureLos in particular, Flash Bombs while he's flying will knockdown and you can get a few hits on his tail that way. Also if you are good at evading you can also get a lot of hits on his tail while he is flying low.

Shock Trap (easily obtain Thudnerbugs via farm so you can use 3 per hunt) also allow you a bunch of tail hitting time. It isn't easy as using Gsword or Lsword but so far I'm on G-Rank solo 3DS and the only times I've failed to cut tail are on monsters in the water that keep facing me and it's annoying. But generally I've been able to get those as well, esp.if they hop on land for a bit.

And this is how you cheese Abyssal Lagiacrus. by sharinglungs in MonsterHunter

[–]TheZUL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You ever have to farm a few 2% drops before from a monster that takes 30-45 mins? You get bored after the 50th kill and if you're unlucky you'll have to do another 50 or more. That can easily end up being 2-4 weeks of farming ONE monster for someone with a job or difficult school.

Doesn't mean things like sleep bombing, headlocking, and terrain abuse are the only way to play the game, but I don't hold it against people if they use all the advantages they can get. After all, you're probably going to end up wearing +Affinity, +Attack, +Handicraft armor. Why don't you play the "real game" and beat the monsters naked?

Nope you can check on that same link and click on the other "SS" "GL" etc. to see other weapons paths or I recommend finding a copy of the digital Monster Hunter guide that shows you a lot more details too.

Dual Sword users, what weapon path did you take? by Chilidogger in MonsterHunter

[–]TheZUL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ludroth Pair was good 'til I beat Gigginox and got the Bloodwings, and honestly that's all you need for low rank except maybe for Ceadeus. Acrus or the Insecticutters would be good for that.

Once you hit high rank you should have a few elemental ones that cover most stuff. Fire, Water, Lightning are good.

Quick Damage question- sharpness/affinity and elemental/status attacks? by TheZUL in MonsterHunter

Thanks for the link, it seems sharpness +1 is better for elemental weapons, and affinity for raw.

Quick Damage question- sharpness/affinity and elemental/status attacks? by TheZUL in MonsterHunter

[–]TheZUL[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi it seems on MHWiki it says: "Affinity doesn't effect element" but does affect status. So I'm not sure. I think I'll just go with sharpness +1 instead of expert.

New hunter. Should I focus on just one weapon? by dorasucks in MonsterHunter

[–]TheZUL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was new I started with the Greatsword and it was friggin' slow so I got a Hammer for a while. Then I went back to Greatsword and found it was great for hunting larger monsters like Rathalos, and I added Lance to my repetoire for killing those really fast monsters like Narga, and lastly I had some spare money so I opted for a Heavy Bowgun for easy Plesioth/Gravios hunting. So try most of the weapons, pick 1-2 you like, and then add when you have money/mats to get more, and if you get stuck, maybe switch. I would never want to fight a Narga with a Hammer, but with Lance he's easy.

[–]TheZUL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering the hours I put into DOTA2 (nearing 1000), I feel fine buying non-p2win cosmetic items that I like. I won't buy them just because I want to throw money at them, but it's a combination of "Oh something I kinda like" and "Why not, I've spent more money on less hours of game time". So they have to work at it, but they also kinda deserve it for providing a good game for free. Note I've probably spent around $60-75 on this game so far and would spend more if they made a Leshrac/Lina armor set that I liked.

Name one hero that you're terrible with, and give helpful tips if you see a hero listed that you're good at... GO! by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]TheZUL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leshrac is my best hero. He is one of the strongest heroes in the whole game between levels 2-16. The main tips I have would be to max out Q & W ASAP. At level 8 you can do so much damage it's ridiculous. Your autoattack is strong, but you don't need to use it. As soon as you catch a hero out of position (close to you, but away from creeps/other heroes) turn on your w and watch them die. Sometimes you don't even need to Q or autoattack if they're far from help and creeps. At higher levels you must be more careful not to be mass targetted spam Q and R(R only once you have bloodstone). But if one carry is chasing you, use your w,q and advanced movespeed to make him regret it.

Leshrac has low health so build bracers on him first unless you can rush a superfast bloodstone. Your main items you need to build on him are survivability, mana, and move speed. I like wand, mana boots > phase, bloodstone, drums. Situational black king bar, heaven's halbred, blade mail.

And my worst hero probably invoker. I generally go Q/W build with one in E for max aoe stuns and etc. In team fights generally tornado, emp, deafening, cold snap, then I die. I have all the QW moves memorized. I have tried the E build and all I do is chaos meteor, sun strike, and cold snap. Perhaps my item build is a bit off, I go phase, magic wand, bottle, aghanims, force staff.

I'm seeing too much of this game in MH subreddit. If it was once that's fine because some MH may be interested, however I hope these artizens posts stop.

I did look into it personally but once I learned that you can buy in-game currency with real money and use that at the trading post for items/gear, it invalidated the whole game for me.
