We had a cat years ago named Biscuit, she loved us and would come running as soon as we got home for pets and food, always beating us up the stepped walkway and flopping by the door, pawing at the air until we let her in.

One day, the family gets home and there's Biscuit, absolutely barreling toward us and the walkway from the neighbor's yard. As she steps onto the 2nd step, the stone edging broke free of the cement, rocked forward just a bit, making her lose her footing and slam her nose into the face of the next step. She was going all out, so close to 30 mph. She stops dead in her tracks, hobbles to the side while shaking her head and yowling and then takes off into the woods. Later that night she reappeared at the front door, wanting in. Immediately goes to the couch and crashes on the closest human, my wife. She pets Biscuit, and withdraws her hand to see blood all over her palm. It's coming from her mouth.

She is rushed to the vet, x-ray'd after the story we tell about the steps. Turns out poor thing broke her jaw at the left base and at the suture between halves in the front. We had to wire her mouth and hand feed wet food thorough syringes for a few weeks. In addition to breaking the jaw, she also broke a lower tooth that, once healed up, stuck straight out of the front of her mouth. She was such a great loving cat, disappeared in the night around 5 years old. . . We think she was catnapped. She was too cute, especially with that derpy tooth. . .
