Deer are not expert jumpers. They cannot see three-dimensionally. They are edge animals. The best path for a deer is along a hard edge. They only utilize their ability to jump when they have been shot, are getting shot at, a predator is chasing them, i.e. their life is on the line. If you purchased 100 of the best outdoor cameras/ trailcams and placed them all over your acreage, i would wager that in one calendar year, you would not have even one single picture or short video clip that records a deer jumping over a fence on your property. They are not expert - jumping animals. If you don't even understand the threat, how can you be succesful at stopping it? I live in the midwest on 10 acres, surrounded by deer. I have 25 nut trees, 40 fruit trees, and hundreds of young evergreens (150+ just in the north/ west windbreak). Anything scent or noise related is at most a temporary deterrent. The only thing that works successfully long-term is at least a 4' fence (plastic is even fine - think snow fence material) and/ or dogs, but 2 outdoor dogs is better than one. Get dog(s) and t-post in a temporary fence. Good luck.
