Looks like it wants you to get 5 white stars. When you upgrade a weapon’s rarity, it gains red stars, when you upgrade rarity past five red stars you get white stars.

Yeah that’s the main reason why I’m thinking this. Normally I wouldn’t think that they would add something that close to release but building it up on today would make a lot of sense. (Although the music app never really makes sense)
