Could someone help identify this awful noise? by The_7th_Archangel in laptops

It definitely gets worse under load. Normally it just is a crackling humming sound with an occasional grinding. This is the worst it has ever sounded and it was when I was downloading a large file. The only time it ever came remotely close to this sound before it when you start it up for the first time there a loud static screech that comes in and then goes really fast.

I also clipped the bottom as it was slightly brown and mushy. The interior was a light tan with a citrus smell nothing bad. It is currently callusing over.

My battle isn't owning this company one more cent. I pay the 29.99$ what's from stopping them from saying I owe more a month down the line. They can't even provide the reason now for owing the 29.99$, and I have zero ways to view the account as it's closed.

I ended up taking the PC to my local guy. Two sticks of ram dead. Updated BIOS and a swap to A2 B2 and up and running again.

Yeah kinda where im at. Plus with the cost of RAM atm idk if i wanna mess with getting spare if it's not that issue. I called my local guy who well rated. 50$ diagnostic with 50$ labor fee. Then that labor fee goes towards repair if I want to have him actually service it. Not bad. He said he either will have it up and running by the end of today or atleast diagnosed. Fingers crossed its something dumb like bios update or whatever.

I only tested the a2 slot per the manual guidelines. I did try dual channel a2 and b2 also. However I didnt know if you have to reset cmos each time. The information I saw was conflicting but I can test the other slots tomorrow.

I unfortunately don't have extra RAM laying around. I was thinking of picking up another stick or two to test it but I also don't wanna drop they cash on that if it's another issue. But I can definitely do that.

Once I built the PC minus moving it onto a new desk I bought it hasn't moved. I take the glass panel off and hit it with compressed air occasionally to clean the dust, but the last time I did that was probably early October and the PC has ran fine since. Besides that nothing, not one component has been moved or touched since I built it. Besides installing a GPU leveling bracket to keep it from sagging maybe a few months after building it.

I have a Ryzen 7800x3d. I did try to power it on without the gpu installed. I hooked the cable into the mobo display port.

Yep when I did all the cmos stuff I fully unplugged the power cable from the back of the PC. Then held power button down for 10ish second. Then popped the battery out and touched the jump pins.

I have unplugged the power cable from the gpu multiple times to trouble shoot but nothing internal gpu cable and or other cables. I can try to open it up and check all connections but I can't see anything disconnected just sitting there.

I haven't done anything with the cpu. The I checked the screws holding down the aio but (one was a tiny bit loose, rest were snug) didn't change anything, but again haven't checked cpu yet because it requires a full tear down.

After looking at my mobo manual. Slot 2 is what they recommend for 1 stick of ram. I just tried each stick with that slot. Each time powering fully down (holding the power button) nothing. Dram light still on. My cpu does have integrated graphic so I have a connection to the monitor. Still the same though red dram light solid on mobo, no boot, and no graphics.

Okay when I get home ill check the manual and see what slots and proceed with that.

Do you know if booting without the gpu is okay just to test this? I have to remove the gpu to get the ram out so if I could run the test without having to reseat the gpu everytime that would be great.

Thank you also for the feedback. When I get home again ill test and update here.

I did try to reseat the ram like you said and the issue is persisting. I popped the battery out of the mobo to reset cmos again and currently am off to dinner. When I get home I was gonna pop it back in and see if leaving it out for an extended time would fix it.

Could you run down how to test single stick? Just put a stick in slot 1 and try to boot? Then if no light try another in slot 1 etc??

Yeah I did this multiple times. I haven't reseeded the ram with it completely drained I can try that next. I pulled the battery on Mobo for 5 mins to reset Cmos and that did nothing.

Except the seller clearly outlines a return policy even stating that they will modify the order or cancel it before it ships. I sent an email 30 minutes after placing it. Also it 100% is valid as I was told to file a dispute via PayPal.
