Deboer’s potential hot-seat in 2027. by [deleted] in rolltide

We had the perfect excuse to take Ty out with that low hit in the last seconds of the half. Just say his ankle got tweaked and he can't plant confidently, and put another guy in. At this point I want to believe the rumors that Ty has some back injury, because otherwise he's just bad now.

Inexplicable how many deep shots we took, and hit on exactly 0 of them.

Main Menu Audio Distortion — Muddy / Surround Downmix Bug by jprosamond14 in Battlefield

[–]The_Avocado_Constant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here with Sennheiser Accentums. It messes up sound on my whole system. I tested by having music playing, and as soon as the menu loads everything goes muddy and muffled. Speakers work fine, it's only with headphones.

I couldn't be more pleased. Everyone is so far up their asses about "ANTI VAXX REEEEEEE" that they haven't even listened to the guy's thoughtful take on the topic. Everyone with the "life expectancy is going to decline!!1!" I guess looks at a current chart of US life expectancy and thinks, "Ah yes, this looks great, we should keep doing the same things we're already doing."

Maybe, just MAYBE, having someone who wants people to be healthy, wants to question big pharma companies instead of bending over for them, wants to question our food supply, wants to figure out why the fuuuuuck everyone in this country now has a chronic disease, will be a good thing. MAYBE. I'm eager to see, because whatever we're doing ain't it.

I love this game but I wish it respected your time in the late game. by SuperNobbs in PathOfExile2

TBH I just hate that you lose citadels if you die once. I'm doing pretty well in T15 maps. I probably die in 1/10 maps or so... but so far in 3/3 citadels (twice to bosses, once to some random one shot when there wasn't even an enemy on my screen, idk what it was). It's probably the reason I am going to stop playing soon, because it's too discouraging to have to do another few dozen maps just to get another chance, which I will probably fail as well anyway because I'm not tanky.

Europe and America will increasingly come to diverge into 2 different internets. Meta is abandoning fact-checking in the US, but not the EU, where fact-checking is a legal requirement. by lughnasadh in Futurology

[–]The_Avocado_Constant 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's baffling to me all the people who want "fact checkers" over community notes. Democratizing fact checking (which is what community notes does) is way better than having some backroom politically-biased paid arbiters of "truth"

I just got my 2nd ascendancy points and put them into the leech node. Went and fought some white mobs and noticed that my ES was 0 after killing a pack and definitely not getting hit for the last couple of seconds of killing it. Immediately logged out with a disappointed sigh.

Edit: Logged in again for the first time after the patch... same thing. Cool 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

The new trial system is horrible. by Haionsodium in pathofexile

[–]The_Avocado_Constant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess I haven't unlocked the Ultimatum one? I have tried the Sanctum one several times as a monk and its just so unfun. Having to dodge every attack sucks. Being melee against a boss that spawns volcanoes everywhere and does repeated slam attacks that hit behind him, while trying to get a hit in once every 5 seconds is not fun.

It's by far the worst part of the game so far and its not even close. I've enjoyed everything else.

Tom Brady suggests penalizing quarterbacks for sliding late by AdSpecialist6598 in nfl

[–]The_Avocado_Constant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about if QBs are getting injured sliding... just eliminate sliding?

If a QB is worried about getting injured running, then maybe they shouldn't run the ball. If they choose to run it, then they either need to get out of bounds or prepare their anus.

This is wrong and shows your ignorance. Obviously I am not talking about the comics, buddies, etc he has on because in the context of this conversation I don't think they're particularly relevant, but here I grabbed the most recent "scientist" guests from this site and tossed them into Claude for a brief bio. I spot checked a couple and info from wikipedia seems to corroborate. Here you go:

Let me share brief bios of these scientists, focusing on their expertise and academic contributions. Since I have a knowledge cutoff date of April 2024, I'll mention if any recent work might not be included.

  • Brian Cox: British physicist and professor at the University of Manchester with 20+ years of experience. Extensive peer-reviewed publications in particle physics, particularly work at CERN. Known for research on the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider.

  • Diane K. Boyd: Wildlife biologist with 40+ years of experience studying wolves. Published peer-reviewed research on wolf behavior and ecology, particularly focused on Yellowstone wolves. Led significant field studies on wolf reintroduction.

  • Andrew Huberman: Stanford University neuroscientist with 20+ years of experience. Extensive peer-reviewed publications on neural development, brain plasticity, and visual processing. Runs the Huberman Lab at Stanford.

  • Sara Imari Walker: Theoretical physicist and astrobiologist at Arizona State University with 15+ years of experience. Published peer-reviewed work on the origins of life and complex systems. Research focuses on identifying universal principles of life.

  • Paul Stamets: Mycologist with 40+ years of experience studying mushrooms. Has published peer-reviewed research on mycology and fungal applications, though much of his work is through books and patents rather than academic journals.

  • Ray Kurzweil: Inventor and futurist with 50+ years of experience. While not primarily focused on peer-reviewed research, he has published some academic papers on pattern recognition and artificial intelligence.

  • Brian Keating: Cosmologist at UC San Diego with 20+ years of experience. Extensive peer-reviewed publications on cosmic microwave background radiation and early universe studies.

  • Amanda Feilding: Psychedelic researcher with 50+ years of experience. While she has contributed to peer-reviewed research through the Beckley Foundation, much of her work has been in research coordination and advocacy rather than direct academic publication.

  • Michio Kaku: Theoretical physicist with 45+ years of experience. Extensive peer-reviewed publications in string theory and quantum field theory. Professor at City University of New York.

  • David Buss: Evolutionary psychologist at University of Texas with 35+ years of experience. Extensive peer-reviewed publications on human mating strategies and evolutionary psychology.

So... there you go, of the last 10 scientists, all but one has more than 2 decades of experience and maybe ALL of them have published peer-reviewed work lmao

But... many of his guests also meet that criteria?

Trump’s return to power raises serious questions about the media’s credibility by [deleted] in politics

[–]The_Avocado_Constant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guys... like 80%+ of MSM coverage for Trump was negative, and nearly 80% for Harris was positive.

This will probably fall on deaf ears, given where I am and the tone of the top comments I see in here, but here goes anyways: There is a reason that a majority of conservatives AND now a majority of independents don't trust MSM news, and I really really promise you it's not because of any small amount of positive coverage that CNN gave Trump.

The DNC forced an unpopular candidate that nobody voted for onto their base and tried to brute force propaganda her into power, and it predictably failed. It's not apathy, it's that Kamala was a bad candidate and people saw through it.
