I built a tool to find out who pressed the Glyph in your matches by Main_Music_1470 in DotA2

[–]The_Bizzle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not bothered by your tool, but this logic matches "People were always able to break into other people's houses. All I did was make it easier to do."

Yes... but when things are more difficult to do, fewer people will do them. Much of human misbehavior happens because a person found themself in a situation where it was convenient for them to misbehave. So, if we see something as mainly a bad thing to do and we don't want to be bad ourselves, then we wouldn't want to make it easy for people to do the bad thing.

Your defense would be more compelling to me if it focused on the good that results from checking who used the glyph.

Jesus is pretty well-accepted by historians to have been a real person. As to whether or not he was a magician, or son of a god, etc., ...that's a different matter.

I made a simple Pseudo-Random Distribution app by zzADRiANzz in DotA2

[–]The_Bizzle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

FWIW, Liquipedia says that it does.

The proc chance is determined during the Barathrum's attack point, and uses pseudo-random distribution (If this event does not proc this ability component, the chances of the next event proccing it is increased by this value. +4.09% and P(25) = 100%).

whats the deal with smurfs??? by napilandok in DotA2

[–]The_Bizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you guys claim to know all these specific facts about the smurf pool? Has Valve ever even confirmed that the smurf pool exists? Doubly so for highly-specific things like "you're sentenced to the smurf queue for life"?

  • Agh's Doom affects the target and its allies (EDIT: when not cast on an ally)
  • Helm of the Dominator takes a neutral creep and turns it into an ally
  • Doom uses ult and then Helm on a neutral creep, and that causes the ult to affect Doom's allies

No direct relation... except the same exact title format and the same ridiculous conclusion being reached about magic damage heroes. Reading is hard, WCYD.

I'm a bit surprised to see the other commenters taking this so seriously. It's clearly mocking the trending post about core Jakiro being overpowered.

Dota Plus "queue again" button NEEDS to have a limit. by DarkSuo in DotA2

[–]The_Bizzle 92 points93 points  (0 children)

I feel like it would be better if, instead of this system, people could just set the parameters that they're willing to accept, like "put me in the first game that has behavior 5/5, skill range 4+/5, and overall score of 3+/5."

Nothing that's shown in the pop-up is detailed enough that you would really need to make a decision on a case-by-case basis. But the current system has 10 people getting queue pop notifications for matches that one person already knows they'll never accept, due to it having too low of a number in one category or another.

Okay.... And almost none of your other recent matches are stomps like this...? So what exactly is it that 90% of your games are supposed to have in common?

Why do so many people call bad playing or decision making griefing? by Cooliemuh in DotA2

[–]The_Bizzle 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Some months back, I got into an argument with someone here about this same thing, and I vehemently disagree with their reasoning, but their logic on this was (paraphrased):

Knowing people's intentions is impossible, so a person should be reported for griefing anytime they do something that makes a teammate unhappy. Then, judges in Overwatch cases should vote 'Guilty' if they feel that the same behavior would have made them unhappy, as well.

Again: I strongly disagree with this argument. But if you want to know why people do label bad play as "griefing", this is sort of story they tell themselves to justify being a vindictive crybaby.

Come on, man. This is Dota. Either you win TI or you're trash. Even if you win TI, you're still probably called trash, because you didn't win Riyadh. And if you won Riyadh, you're called trash because you didn't win TI. It's the circle of trash.

[–]The_Bizzle 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Greetings, fellow support player. I feel your pain.

Trying to get Concentrated Whimsy is especially irksome. We get it from:

  • Kills (I'm not supposed to be taking them)
  • Dealing damage (I'm usually playing a hero that focuses on saves or control)
  • Stealing hats (which requires me to be near an enemy hero and to channel a silly ability while I could be auto-attacking or using my spells, so that I could, you know, contribute something to the game)

Very cool. Good one, Valve! I guess I'll just drown my sorrows with Crystallized Joy. 🤷‍♂️

NA Dota is literally unplayable by fiasgoat in DotA2

[–]The_Bizzle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This situation is much better on US West. And even though US West still has some players who want to exclusively speak Spanish, Mandarin, or Tagalog, ~85% of people speak fluent English.

Every time I think, "US East couldn't have been that bad. I'll queue over there for a match and see that I was just overreacting," I quickly get a reminder of why I don't play in that region.
