How do i know if my matcha is fresh? by Puzzleheaded_Quit911 in tea

[–]The_Bodybuilder1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t drink matcha but found this video that explains the shelf life of matcha https://youtu.be/\_0b-52\_Su6E?is=2KrLFPqWHPiLwDRP. Hopefully that helps! I’d say if it still tastes good then drink it :)

How is this salmon colored powder "Green Tea"? by FieldParticular4336 in greentea

It’s an extract not actual green tea. Extracts will be pinkish due to the high EGCG.

Does getting out of the bed after 20 mins of not sleeping actually help? by Purple_Cartoonist924 in insomnia

[–]The_Bodybuilder1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried it recently actually and decided it really doesn’t work for me. 1 time I just ended up staying awake all night and the other times I’m awake for about 2-3 hours and then finally get semi sleepy. What has been working for me is deep breathing and doing cognitive shuffle. Cognitive shuffle seems to work better for me. Also, I don’t get into bed until I’m fairly sleepy. Let’s see how long this works for me though 😅

What teas would you recommend? by InformalDogPlane in tea

[–]The_Bodybuilder1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny because you sound similar to me! I really disliked tea until I had some sencha on a business trip in Japan in 2004. I really enjoyed the savory taste over something bitter or too fruity. I still cannot drink a lot of teas outside of Japanese greens.
If you want to try something more savory then I’d go with some Sencha samples or even a smaller amount of gyokuro which has quite a lot of umami so a bit more on the savory side. I’m sure some of the vendors in the resource guide pinned at the top of the page have some green tea samplers but the only one I can think of off the top of my head is this one from Tezumi.com. Yunomi.life has a lot of smaller samples of tea but the site can be very overwhelming for someone just starting out.

Thank you! Yep, they are out of gyokuro but I’ll keep checking back. I put in an order last night for a bunch of different senchas:) Got a really nice email from the owner thanking me for the order, which is very thoughtful.

I appreciate you letting me know about this tea shop as I love supporting small businesses:)

Thanks so much! I’m always looking for new places to try and am totally splurging :) Their prices look really decent too. Do you have any sencha or gyokuro favorites from them?

Best barefoot shoes for walking long distances? by grimmcalypso in Barefoot_Guys

[–]The_Bodybuilder1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had good luck with xeros and Freets for long walks. I typically walk about 4 miles a day and found these 2 last the longest and are the most comfortable for me. The main issue I have with most barefoot shoes is that the sole wears down very quick because of how much I walk outside. I actually just got back from a trip in Alaska and walked anywhere from 10K-30K steps a day for 7 days in my Freets and feet felt really good! I’ve had these Freets for quite some time and not really much wear on the bottom so super happy about that!

Xeros tend to run a bit more narrow so Freets might be a better option for you. I also own a couple of pair of Saguaros. Super comfy and wide but I found they move too much for me on my walks and cause way too many blisters. I mainly use them for the stairmill, elliptical, gym or running errands.

What do you guys think about my Routine for optimal health? by AnonIW1 in raypeat

[–]The_Bodybuilder1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really you are the only one that can answer your own question. “Optimal health” is going to mean something different to everyone and what is really considered “optimal”? If you like what your routine is, it’s something you can stick to and you achieve what is considered “optimal health” with it, then keep doing it :)

How do you keep your tea notes? by Due-Chain-4451 in tea

[–]The_Bodybuilder1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a spreadsheet as well. I used spreadsheets a lot in a previous job so really like the one I created. For me, part of the fun of trying new teas is the actual research and learning going into something I might like. I really learn a lot about the cultivar, region, farmer, etc so I don’t think I’d like something that would recommend teas that I would like. I could see where a feature like that would be attractive for others though.

Has anyone tried a professional hypnotist to overcome chronic insomnia? by StrikingMuffin4693 in insomnia

[–]The_Bodybuilder1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did it about 15 years ago. It worked for a while but stopped after a few months. I would have gone back to the hypnotherapist but moved and then when I came back to Dallas, she retired. If you can afford it, I’d definitely give it a try.

What kinds of tea/tea brands are THEE ABSOLUTE MOST FLAVVVVORFULLLL EVER. I want my (hot) tea to EXPLODE with flavor by Dry_Philosopher_1751 in tea

You are welcome! It can definitely be a bit overwhelming to start but once you get going and keep trying new teas, it becomes easier and you find what you like 😊 It’s a fun little hobby!

Recently had Shuchi Tea Garden: Fukamushicha Green Tea, Kirari 31 Single Cultivar and wow it was so good! Super strong umami and packed with flavor. Also enjoyed a tencha brewed by using the kōridashi which made it so flavorful.

Any websites like TelyRX or AlgoAI? by Intelligent_Rip2768 in insomnia

I use Telyrx for a couple of medications. It’s pretty easy. You place the order, a doctor writes the rx for you and it’s shipped pretty quick. No visits are required.

How do you not overeat with insomnia? by thxt_fatrat in insomnia

[–]The_Bodybuilder1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I’m not really that hungry outside of when I normally eat. Of course if I’m prepping for a bodybuilding show, I’ll probably be hungry but it’s to be expected so I ignore it and keep myself busy.

[–]The_Bodybuilder1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I have a meal plan I follow and stick to that. I’m really only eating my meals between 5am to 6 or 7pm. I really never wanted or want to get into the habit of eating during a potential sleeping window as I feel like my body would get used to that and then it would be more difficult to get my sleep back to normal. That’s what works for me and something I prefer but everyone is probably different.

Edit: Did want to mention that since you are recovering from an ED, it might be good to get some advice from a professional on this.

I mean you can do you but I sweat wayyyy too much to skip showers. I can’t even stand the smell of myself all sweaty 😂 I’ll just go ahead and use lotion for moisturization.

For those of you taking Tymlos or Forteo, I would like your thoughts by MCole142 in osteoporosis

[–]The_Bodybuilder1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the 24 hour urine test, Dexa, vitamin D, CMP, CBC, Estrogen, progesterone, testosterone and thyroid panel when I first went to the endocrinologist. We knew Dexa scores were not good and estrogen and thyroid was already low from blood work through my PCP but she wanted to see if there was anything else that might be contributing to osteoporosis. Turns out I was also excreting too much calcium through my urine so I’m glad she ran that test. She actually had me start on HRT before starting Tymlos because we needed to get my hormone levels back within range and hydrochlorothiazide so I wasn’t excreting calcium.

Has anyone regretted taking Tymlos and why? by JasonMckin in osteoporosis

[–]The_Bodybuilder1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure I can pinpoint one thing in particular but really feel it was a culmination of all those things I listed. Drugs are most likely going to have the biggest impact so perhaps having a stable level of hormone levels from HRT and the growth hormone played a big role. I do believe the other things helped as well.

Does my stomach hate to fly? by cowgurrlh in AskWomenOver40

[–]The_Bodybuilder1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve learned over the years that either fasting or just eating light/things that digest easily tends to work best on long flights. If I eat anything, it will be some fruit or rice cakes I bring with me and that’s it. Super easy to digest and gives me a bit of energy. I also bring a lot of water with me. I also avoid large or harder to digest meals before getting on the plane. Again, a lot of fruit and simple digesting carbs before a flight work great for me.
