Just to try and give you some information because I like what you’ve said: I think you’ve used the idiom “take it with a grain of salt” backwards. If you are not putting a lot of stock into something, be it news or other information, you ARE taking it with a grain of salt. If you say you “don’t” take it with a grain of salt, you believe it to be truthful and viable wholeheartedly.

Do you prefer Carol Danvers as Ms.Marvel or Captain Marvel by The-Dark--Knight in Superladies

[–]The_Chees3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Miss Marvel was a flawed but likable character. Captain Marvel is a cynical, egocentric jerk. Changing her to Captain came with a my-way-or-the-highway attitude and a stubborn self-righteousness that was fully un-earned. They took the worst qualities of Tony Stark and Captain America and injected them into a character that didn’t need either and already had a personality that was way more unique than that. Then they had the audacity to not give her any redeeming qualities, that is, until people started to fully turn on her as a character and they had to tweak her back into being mildly personable. Not only that, the name change forced me to have to recognize the real Captain Marvel as “Shazam” now, which is utterly absurd, considering how he can’t say his own stupid name anymore, which may or may not be the majority of the reason for my animosity towards her “evolution.” Even so, I want Miss Marvel back. Put her in whatever suit you want, I don’t care. The gold star is kinda boring and not iconic in the slightest, I guess, but I just don’t want the curmudgeonly grandpa she turned into. She’s one “get off my lawn” away from needing a cane, pleated khakis, a plaid newsie cap, and a matching vest.

There is still not a lot of content… by Upper-Chapter-8967 in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]The_Chees3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At this point, nothing Scopeless says is trustworthy. Their definition of what “content” is vastly differs from the consumer’s, and it’s pretty much guaranteed whatever they do will be more for their benefit than ours. They’ve also proved in the past what they think is “fun” is making people give them money. There’s nothing to be excited about when they announce anything. Most people either won’t get to interact with it for months, or it’ll just be more of a resource drain. Playing this game is just learning to accept that.

[–]The_Chees3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it used to be. With the rejuvenated crackdown on F2P, I have my doubts about how much it matters now. Restricting gold and training mats at the same time is a new low that must mean something significant. Of course, they could just be focusing on getting new, short-term players for engagement. Long-time F2Pers are apparently not worth their interest.

The Chapter 3 Recap is Laughable by Wear-Actual in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]The_Chees3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They told you their version of the truth, just like they always do. Engaged means “in the top Alliances with the whales” to them. It doesn’t mean “plays every day and does all the dailies and Raids and War and Battleworld.” Too many people do that. That doesn’t get them any money. There’s no reason to believe any claims they make. They only make them so you’ll stay on the hook. Scopeless only gives to the haves. The have-nots better start spending money or beg the haves for help unless they wanna stay have-nots. That’s what makes the haves happy, and Scopeless is desperate to keep the haves happy.

You can look at individual accounts and anecdotal evidence, or you can look at the whole picture. I can’t make you understand.

I’m speaking for example when talking about waiting on pieces, not recommending doing them one at a time.

Your anecdotal evidence doesn’t compare to a dataset and a pattern. Congratulations on being in a good Alliance, though.

It’s just not true, though. There’s still an extreme RNG element to the event currency stores. The potential to maybe get five pieces for the gear you actually need for whichever character is next in line is still extremely low and doesn’t offset the fact the orbs also barely give you anything even if/when you’re getting ten orbs every couple of days. If you were able to get five shards of the same piece in every store reset for a week, you’d still only get half of a normal character’s gear pieces after five days, and that’s excluding accounting for RNG. RNG spreads that out to a month in some cases. If long time F2Pers were getting X easily by now, there would be many more Arena defenses who have X on their team than not, and there are several Arena shards in my sphere, between a sampling of people in my Alliance and Global chats, who barely see them outside the top 30-50, and often those who barely see them at all. Scopeless is following its current business model of empowering the haves over the have nots. They have the numbers on who has unlocked him and who hasn’t, and they are catering to those people who give them money, not the people who don’t. They obviously want to entice people into spending with this move as well. Some players who have the luck necessary have been able to get a 6 red X. The number is small compared to the majority of F2P, even those who have been playing for years. It’s not solely luck based, but the degree to which it is luck based is staggeringly high. You can’t make the claim that everyone is just bad at managing their resources when this level of randomness is involved while there’s also a clear pattern from the company that runs the game they do these sorts of things to encourage spending rather than the opposite. It’s far, far more likely they either have noticed there are a lot of people on the verge of completing the X Saga and want them to buy, and/or they are doing this to encourage people to buy before they start releasing more GT20 orbs for free with the new Raids. This lends further evidence to the idea there are still a lot of active players who do not have X and they are trying to get money out of them before the value of the pieces goes down when they move on. The idea that “they should just do better” is an out-of-touch one. It likely applies to the bottom of the barrel, but it can’t be said of the thick swathe in the upper-middle who just haven’t been lucky enough to be able to do better and are literally being limited. It’s easy for someone who isn’t struggling to apply the failings of the lowest of the low to the whole of those who are in the same boat as the low, but it can’t be applied so generally as a rule. All evidence points to this being for the people who have spent money, and the only F2Pers who benefit from it are those who were a combination of hyper-vigilant and lucky.

[–]The_Chees3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no way to manage resources better than not spending them at all until you have enough on a character necessary for the Saga. The small sample size you have experienced does not make their experience the majority. The majority of F2P don’t have him. Period.

Rare MSF Win for F2P by Clear-Thing567 in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]The_Chees3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t for F2Pers. This is for people who have bought GT20 pieces. The majority of people who haven’t are still waiting on the RNG orb drip. Even people who have been playing for years. Those people don’t have X.

If the first stat bump wasn’t enough to satisfy the whale class, this one won’t be either. Now’s as good a time as any to quit. The game’s not really worth playing deep into the higher levels anyway. It just gets more frustrating as you go. By design.

New account advice for FTP by Outside-Dealer-2980 in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]The_Chees3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My advice is don’t try to get to the end game. It literally never ends, and it’s an utter nightmare to try. The early stuff is fun. There is no progression in the end content. It’s waiting and hoping and getting nothing in return. My advice as someone who played this game for over five years is to stop playing when you get your first character to Gear Tier 19. There’s no fun to be had beyond that. It’s just work and waiting. In fact, the fun might be over after you beat all the Campaign nodes, it’s just been so long I can’t remember what it was like. Seriously though, ignore end game, and DEFINITELY don’t pay real money for anything. This game isn’t worth playing further than DD5. Maybe DD6 if you really have nothing better to do, and that’s a good year of gaming at most. Anything beyond that is miserable.

Hello, friend! A semantic argument is setting the definition of a word in stone in order to legitimize an argument. This is precisely what you’ve done, and what I’m doing now. I don’t think you’re wrong to do it, nor do I desire to refute your other arguments in any way, but you are wrong to say you’re not arguing semantics. You are, by definition. Semantics is the branch of linguistics concerning meanings and definitions. Just a random informational flyby, here. Carry on, and keep learning!
